Sometimes, when it comes to dominating your fantasy hockey league, avoiding drafting the wrong player too early can be equally as important to taking the right player in the appropriate round. That’s why on Thursday’s brand-new episode, Flip and Steele discuss the top overrated fantasy hockey players in the NHL heading into the upcoming fantasy hockey season.
We take a look at some NHL players that might have overachieved last season and with small sample sizes of being elite, should be drafted with a bit of caution. Such as Brandon Montour of the Florida Panthers or even Josh Morrissey of the Winnipeg Jets. Or it could be because of serious health concerns, with fantasy hockey players such as Columbus Blue Jackets sniper Patrik Laine or even another Florida Panthers blue-liner in Aaron Ekblad.
Other names that both Flip and Steele have on the fantasy hockey overrated list include Boston Bruins rearguard Charlie McAvoy and Bruins starting netminder and reigning Vezina Trophy winner Linus Ullmark.

Holy Crap. It's fantasy hockey season already!!! 🏒🥅🤙
I'm not sold on the idea that losing PLD and Blake Wheeler is going to automatically make the Jets PP worse.
Yes they lost 22 PP goals but BW's 7 goals were the most since he had 8 in 2014 and he had a career low of 8 PP assists and yes PLD had a career high 23 PP points but at 25 he has already gone through the prime scoring years of his career and he has yet to score 30 goals, not to mention his history of finding it hard to just put his feelings aside and play for the team that is paying him. Maybe he does break out in LA as many reports seem to indicate, he wants to be there, he has the big contract but maybe him not being a Jet is not the worse thing for the Jets.
The point of all this is that Josh Morrisey is still going to be a great PP1 QB, the Jets got some decent players back for PLD, a healthy Nik Ehlers will be a boost and a emerging talent in Cole Perfetti should also help…yes I have Morrisey as a potential keeper and yes I am very much biased and want him to succeed, but losing PLD and BW doesn't seem like the death of the Jets PP and yes I am very much biased!
Keep up the great work!
Patrik Laine has been in Columbus for months so he’s totally in shape for when training camp starts. The whole team in general is doing this same sort of routine because CBJ had some of the most man missed games last season due to injury. Based off of last years ADP Laine wasn’t worth his pick but if you have the opportunity to buy low on him and werenski you’ll get a great return IMO. Werenski was out for the year two weeks into the season last year so CBJ was extremely inefficient because he is important to the team. Keep up the great work!
