Forward Zack Kassian will miss Canada’s two remaining preliminary-round games at the IIHF world junior championship for his hit on a Czech Republic opponent on Tuesday night.
During the second period of Canada’s 7-2 rout of the Czechs, Kassian was assessed a match penalty for a high hit on defenceman Petr Senkerik. Senkerik crumpled to the ice and was eventually strapped to a brace and carted from the ice on a stretcher. A match penalty carries an automatic one-game suspension. IIHF officials added a second game to Kassian’s punishment on Wednesday morning.

@invadr1 "clear possession of the puck is long past" Long past is less then a second (watch the video) and there was a penalty because the ref thought he hit his head first, Which he clearly didn't. He hit him shoulder to shoulder and Zenkeriks head snapped down onto his shoulder because of the force of the hit. Clean hit imo, hockey is becoming to soft these days

@invadr1 where the fuck do you play hockey? it was a clean hit, no more than 1 second after the czech player lost control, there is no direct contact to the head, feet never left the ice, so tell me how this is a dirty hit…
@invadr1 funny thing is neither ref called anything, it was the linesman who came over and told them.. and if you can see, there is no contact to the head, sure his head snapped back after the hit but there was no direct contact. Lots of players lower their bodies to make a hit, if he hadnt he would have actually hit his head
