  1. Trade is interesting but unfortunately I think his trade value is already at zero. I just don't think a trade is viable to get anything at value. At least if you hold on to him, and he gets 10 goals or a good amount of assists, THEN you can get more for him at the deadline.
I hope we can get a trade and move on for both the Leafs sake and his sake. Plenty of other teams need talent, and he IS a talent.

  2. I say play him for the first 10-20 games and use the results to trade him. Heโ€™s too soft.

  3. Couldn't agree more Zach. No fit for rodertson on this team, especially now and unfortunately, his value has dropped.
    Good Hot take btw ๐Ÿ‘

  4. Thanks for the shout out! Agree with your thoughts, assuming heโ€™s healthy, thereโ€™s only room for him on the 4th line, and he isnโ€™t the right kinda player to be a shut down guy like you said. I think we should trade him, as I think he could excel on a growing team with plenty ice time, and all players deserve their shot.

  5. Nick could turn out to be a nice surprise and take a step forward and stay healthy.

  6. I'm hearing you say 'just give him away before he gets injured again'…sorry for the paraphrase. I strongly disagree. He is neither unlucky nor 'not built for the NHL', he just has to learn how to go safely into the corners. (lessons from Mitch?) His potential is still there. I think we'd all regret just giving him away – which again is what think you're proposing.

  7. Itโ€™d be prudent to give this guy till the Feb deadline to see what theyโ€™ve actually got in him. If they have a goal scorer on an ELC then thatโ€™s a good thing. It allows more room to pick up a high end D. Lots of high end D on expiring contracts. If Florida is out of the playoff picture would they move Montour who is on an expiring contract? If the Leafs were to move him now, he wouldn't garner much in terms of a return. So, keeping him with the risk he may get hurt again isn't going to be risking much…unless it's in a package with Brodie to move out salary and get a D in return. I can't see a team moving a D for Brodie, package or not…unless again…It's for a guy on an expiring contract for a non-playoff team…but that's a wait and see scenario.

  8. He's 21 and he is elite, a secret weapon in my opinion…the complaints on his injury history although valid if he overcomes it we arent ready for what he's capable of truthfully, could score more than knies btw knies played centre at Minnesota i believe look out for that in the years ahead..

  9. It's hard to trade him with how little he's played in the NHL.. His injury record doesn't give him our the leafs a good value.. I feel we ride him out. If he can stay healthy he will benefit us weather he stays with us our not.. Like you said though it's getting him into the current lineup with who we've currently got for those spots.

  10. In my opinion the Kids still young enough to grow into something he has the talent no doubt. Unfortunately I don't think he has any significant trade value even as a throw in as a part of a bigger deal. Based on that I feel keeping him around for that Chance of him growing into something more is just a better play than throwing him away for Diddly squat. You don't HAVE to trade guys for the sake of trading them

  11. A lot of bad luck… If he can string together 50 games, I think we might be pleasantly surprised again. He costs nothing to support. Go Nick! I think you are wayyyyy to hard on Nick. He has smiled and taken the BS and tried to work through it. Put yourself in his shoes. Give the guy a break. Seriously.

  12. No one wants an injured prone small forward. It's best to just take a shot with him and see if he has a breakthrough season

  13. Were thy not trying him on RW on the Marlies? Robertson has no value in a trade. You would be lucky to get a 4th round pick. So i'd rather have him play in the AHL and given a ton of ice-time, if he excels and can help the team, great. If he gets hurt again, big deal you don't re-sign him. But if he excels that's a big bonus.
