Someone once tested hockey players for pain tolerance vs baseball and basketball layers. The hockey players tested much higher, like due to the ‘shake it off’ ethos in hockey.

  2. Neverbeensuspended1

Soccer and hockey are two of the most skilled team sports in the world. The hate on here is such boomer level petty.

  3. Like17Badgers

I mean, if diving meant your team got the puck we would have way more players falling down. it’s just as silly out of context as hockey players needing to take a break and sit on the bench after 2 minutes.

there’s plenty of examples of soccer players playing with active injures. either cause their team already used their 3 subs or cause they can still play soccer with a broken bone cause they’re wearing a cast.

That’s how Matt Bradley looked all the time. Dude was a bleeder.

  5. BramptonBatallion

Hockey players have never dived or embellished ever.

  6. Porkchopp33

They do but also play with broken bones and 100 ‘s of stitches so toughness isn’t up for a debate but soccer is grueling in other ways for sure

  7. PhilMcCraken2001

This is the most hockey 2012 meme lol

  8. JoelGoodsonP911

    This is so stupid.

Soccer players are tough as nails. Yeah, a few are soft, but the vast majority bust ass. They run hard for 90+ minutes, and are constantly hacked at, shouldered, and clawed.

Post about stuff you know, Old Timer.

Hockey fans with the classic case of having a simultaneous inferiority/superiority complex.

“Our sport is better than yours and why don’t you give a shit?”

Are there really fully grown adults who only watch one sport and pretend all others are somehow lesser?

I remember a version of this meme that had the Cisse injury from years ago, but cropped out was his leg hanging off with bone sticking out, it just showed the top half where he’s holding his face.

And, if we really wanna go there in terms of “toughness”, then road cyclists make hockey players look soft.

Yes, I agree, Hockey culture is toxic in this way where men feel the need to affirm and assert their machismo through downplaying legitimate injuries.

Diving/simulations happen more often in football/soccer because it works to get a call. It’s about winning. Period.

  12. I see someone hacked my folder of memes I saved in 2008 when I was a kid.

  13. Weirdlittleworm

Sooooo one is more manly than the other?

  14. Dariooosh89

Imagine having to skate 60 minutes a game. No subs nothing.

  15. Hutch25

Unless you are Max Domi, Tim Stutzle, Tristan Jarry, or the other thousand players to have faked a penalty on camera.

I remember seeing a similar set of pictures a few years back, except it wasn’t a hockey player, it was a rugby player.

For every argument I have seen expressed here supporting the toughness of soccer players, you can multiply it many times for rugby, due to the extremely physical nature of the game, with as much running as soccer. Just watch the World Cup now being played. I have played hockey for over 60 years and am still playing, and I played rugby for 30 years until age 50.

lol as a Canadian hockey fan that regularly goes back to Europe and regularly follow soccer there too, soccer fans do not even give us a second thought, why are our fanbases so insecure that we need to prove ourselves to people who couldn’t give less of a shit? every soccer fan finds hockey interesting whenever I bring it up and are open to learning about it, and don’t try to prove how much better “their” sport is.

Didn’t know I was on Facebook

    And it’s still 2011

This is the most fax thing I’ve ever seen in my life

Matt Bradley… dude was a bleeder

  21. Horizon_18

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. The global number of players absolutely trumps the global number of hockey players. They’re tough in their own way, because it’s two different games. Soccer players run for 90+ minutes in all different types of weather.

  22. PurpleSignificant725

Every sport embellishes fouls and injury.

  23. DefeaterOfDragons

Gregory Campbell getting his leg broken by a snapshot and remaining on ice until the end of his shift was all the proof I needed to know hockey players are the toughest athletes. Plus, all the times players would pull out their own teeth and keep playing. God bless hockey

  24. sizable_data

Soccer players play full games without subs, hockey players switch lines every 40 seconds.

    Not a soccer fan btw

  25. AeronauticalBanker

“Soccer was a game invented by European ladies to keep them busy while their husbands did the cooking.” – Hank Rutherford Hill

  26. AkiraleTorimaki

Remember when Gregory Campbell skated for nearly a full minute while having a broken leg?
