I have a better idea. Put the Yotes down finally and stick them in Atlanta. Unless of course Gary’s boner for Arizona is bigger than his boner for Atlanta.

  2. Literally just move the Yotes to SLC or Houston. Why is that so hard?

  3. Please got get rid of Arizona and give Quebec City a f’ing team already

  4. DarkUnderbelly

Yes! The Thrashers failed because of incompetent ownership who were squabbling amongst themselves. Hockey can certainly work in Atlanta, it’s not a market you should ignore.

    Bring the Thrashers back!

As someone living in Iowa I’d like them to do Milwaukee so I can be blacked from ANOTHER professional sports team

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEEEEEEEE. We deserve a team, not our fault management has been absolute dousche nozzles. I miss hockey so much

“How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?”

  8. 32 teams is perfect. Why are we even considering adding a 33rd? Relocate Arizona or something ffs. Probably put Columbus in the central then? Would be better than moving Detroit out of a division with a bunch of O6 teams. But you could also get Detroit and Chicago in the same division so that could work.

    As they should.

It’s too large to ignore. I just don’t like that the arena that those people are planning is so far away from Atlanta. It would be like 49ers playing in Santa Clara.

  10. Is this the precursor to Quebec City getting a team when Atlanta’s franchise bottoms out and gets relocated to Canada again?

    Worked for Calgary and Winnipeg.

  11. BlackFalconEscalator

Sure why not. Given the track record it will be in Canada eventually

  12. badgerbob1

This is the way Canada gets it’s 8th NHL franchise

Great another team coming to Canada after a decade of futility in Atlanta 😏

Stubborn Bettman won’t give up – 27 years of losing losing hockey and the franchise playing in a 5000 seat arena in Arizona and now a 3rd time in the Atlanta. Is this good management?

Right, because it worked the first two times. Seriously, when two franchises in the same location, in two very different times, with two very different NHLs, fail in the same way, it implies that there’s an underlying problem. Sure, the ownership of the Thrashers fucked up a lot, but the fact that both teams had financial problems and major problems with attendance shows that it’s a recurring problem. Their lackluster performance on the ice didn’t help, but plenty of teams have been absolutely terrible for a long time and still retained a fanbase. Even up to a few years ago people were saying how there wasn’t much of a local fanbase even when the teams were there. I don’t know what changed that narrative.

Personally, I’d love to see an Atlanta franchise actually succeed, but as of now, I feel like multiple other locations should have an NHL franchise before Atlanta gets a third try.

  16. Canada approves. We need another team up here. Willing to wait the few years for Atlanta3 to fail 🇨🇦🎉

    Derp Alert!

Two failed attempts in that city, sure, let’s go back, Arizona isn’t a big enough joke, we need Dumb and Dumber.

Here we go again with this Atlanta and phoenix obsession

  19. As someone moving to Atlanta for my wife’s doctor job I for one welcome this news. Hopefully she buys me season tickets.

Gary, leave the NHL at 32 teams you stupid dumb-fuck. Two perfect conferences and half the teams make the playoffs. This is ideal forever IMO
