Habs Fans Want This?

OK Guys, it’s time to take a look at Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander. Nylander is in the final year of his current contract, and is set to become a UFA at the end of the season, unless ofcourse the Leafs are capable of signing him. For some reason there seems to be quite a few Habs fans that are interested in picking up a player like Nylander for the Canadiens.. However I don’t think its a great idea and I’ll explain why..

The articles that were in the video were screenshots from Habsfanatics.com, I highly reccommend you to check out this site for further Habs News,

  1. Petterson is younger and a better fit in the room and he wants a cup. Vancouver has more sense and knows signing him unless the team gets in contention and that's unlikely so in comes the habs with a plethora of young stars of tomorrow. Sign Petterson and pick up a cup promise on defense from the Habs. Matheson, Mailloux, Hutson, Reinbacher, Guhle, Arbor, Barron, Engstrom, Harris, Kovacevic , Lidstrom, could have enough to help make Vancouver a contender as well defensively. add Anderson and Petterson gets a contender for Vancouver and is proud to play for the habs! No Leaf multi-millionaires with no heart

  2. I would have accepted Nylander to Montreal, depending on what the trade and value is or wait to his end contract. But I already know this would not happen. The fact Montreal was stated that it was one of a destination for Nylander, I believe, was only to put pressure on Toronto. Probably his agent working with a media source to start that convo.

  3. Nylander is one of the Leafs overpaid players who wants more then TO can pay and no one else will either…lets face it he is no Crosby. Ovi, McDavid or MacKinnon

  4. I kinda rather we'd welcome Tomas Tatar back to MTL for a couple years to show some youngster the ropes, he'd be such a good mentor for Slaf, Mesar and even Dobes (Jakub is Czech but their languages are very similar to each other) but I'm sure he could be a strong influence to some others as well, like RHP, Wawa and the likes.

  5. The situation is plausible and possible if Nylander becomes a UFA, provided Toronto doesn't re-sign him.

He's a talented player and he would certainly be a huge asset to our forward lines.

However it is up to the HABS brass to figure it out.

I personally wouldn't be opposed to it if fits Hughes' vision for our team.

  6. If Nylander leaves Toronto, It's gonna hurt. But with Matthews new contract, chances he leaves because that man is getting a raise. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss him as a future Habs but only once he tests the market. I do not see the Leafs trading him any time soon. They are still a cup contender. Unless of course it's a big time disaster next season and they aren't even close to making the playoffs. But I doubt that happens.

Would I like it if he signed a $9M a year contract in Montreal? You bet ya but I have to agree that chances are he gets more elsewhere.

  7. Are we smoking crack? Who in their right mind would want to bring in a career loser like that guy let alone pay him anything over 8mil. Jeez I think some “Habs fans” are trying to sabotage the team

  8. Nylander does not fit into Montreal plans. He fits on a team that is almost a contender for the Cup but wants to have a high profile player for the box office. he is not a coach's player; he is an opportunist with talent. He should have been traded for a top pairing defence as soon as Muzzin went down. He is the worst kind of player to have on your team….an almost superstar. They are never worth thier money.

  9. idk why people are sour on nylander after everyone went buck wild that they didn't draft a forward this year. Do we not want good players on the team or something? I'm not saying he's a lock as a hab, but if the guys make big steps this year and are closer to a playoff spot than expected, I'd say take a real run at nylander and offer him ballpark 9M for 3-5 years assuming the numbers work out. Hughes has already flipped futures to accelerate the rebuild with dach and newhook, and I don't see a reason why he would be opposed to it in this situation as a trade-and sign. kinda what PLD did this past summer with LA. We have loads of prospects and draft picks, trust me.

Again, much of it will depend on how the team performs this year so dont count your chickens before they hatch!

  10. Not a chance in hell do we need him. Stick to the plan and develop the huge amount of talent we have and will have in the next 2 plus draft years!!

  11. Although he's overpaid, Nylander is a real gamer, IMO.

How do I know? Some players always play great against Montreal, and those players tend to come up clutch in big moments. I think it's the crowd in Montreal, different players have a different reaction to rowdy crowds I guess.
Point is, historically those players played above their level when they ended up here afterwards.

So I would definitely be all for Nylander in Montreal, because I believe he'd be even better here than what he's shown so far in Toronto. (Hot take: I'd take him on my team above Matthews.)

That said, I also wouldn't pay what the Leafs are going to ask for in a trade, and wouldn't overpay him in FA because he doesn't really fit the timeline of this Habs team Hughes and co. are building anyways.

  12. Thx for the vid. If getting Nylander means getting rid of Suzy, Caufield and exercise bike rider then I say go for it 🙂

  13. I couldnt agree more, Toronto isnt letting nylander come to Montreal, and who could we trade for him, Harris, and Anderson?? lol, No team is gonna give up a 40-50 goal guy for anything other then one of our top 2 players, and as u said, do we REALLY want Nylander? lol, Im the first one to say bring on a goal scorer, but I have some standards!! lol.

  14. It's pretty sad to think the Maple Leafs 4th fiddle would instantly become the Habs best player.

Probably first 40 goal scorer on the Habs pretty much since the 80's.

  15. The Leafs can keep him.

What I remember Nylander for was, during the Habs V Leafs playoff series, how he would dump the puck as soon as anyone threatened to hit him. Scared and not willing to take a hit to make a play – not worth it.

  16. We wouldn’t trade him to a loser franchise like Montreal and all their delusional French fans who are more cocky then me naked.
