Ben Cummins wrongly sin bins Matt Gillett (Round 25, 2014)

Ben Cummins controversially sin binned Matt Gillett in the 54th minute in the Broncos 30-22 win over the Dragons. Gillett was ruled (wrongly) to be offside from a penalty tap as Benji Marshall bolted 40 metres downfield. It was later revealed, in a rare moment, that Cummins apologised to Gillett for his actions.

  1. I've said it once and I will say it again, refs should be held as highly accountable for their action just like the players, but refs make mistakes u say, so do players and they get carded or fine and or suspended, which can determine the outcome of a game. So can the ref and they can make stupid decisions and get away with it.

  2. Players get fined or lose games for wrong doing and misconduct on the field, when will the refs cop the same.

  3. I thought u had to get 10 metres in front of the ball player, meaning that if ur offside when the ball is played you need to make it back further then when the ball was played. Not sure if this is an actual rule or just something my coach told me when I was 7

  4. 0.31 even a dragon player Questions the refs call lol

"How can he be offside? He tapped it all the way back there!"

  5. I had to make sure, but this is the same clown that penalized braith anaster for being sucker punched… Not even a roosters fan

  6. He shouldn't be refereeing first grade rugby league. The odd blue here and there you might be forgiven for, but his decisions have been major blunders over a long period of years. Just been watching him in the Tigers v Dolphins match 2023 and in one half he's made 3 errors. Not good enough, why is he still there?
