Okay… Perhaps you guys gave me a little bit (not very much) hope…. (I'm the regular whiny/pessimistic one….) EP40 banking on himself is an incredibly risky move for himself… I also can't see him going all-out this season in tight situations – risking a career injury and 100 million dollars? Why would he – he doesn't need to do it? He could just hold back and let the Canucks soil the bed…
If I may… making man-child, random-secondary-assists-Quinn Hughes Captain is ONE ANOTHER chip off the table for EP40 and JT – it's a lot of money with endorsements having the "C." Hughes can't shoot… or hit the net for the life of him… (He makes Kotkaniemi look like Gretzky…) He can't make even a basic move to get a pass to the hardest and most accurate shot in the NHL (EP40.) It's silly.
The Vancouver Canucks power-play is often Quinn Hughes saying a prayer, closing his eyes, and sending a non-shot on the net… He has ZERO imagination… (HE RUINS THE POWER PLAY…) Sure… last touch assists is a thing and looks nice in stats… but it's garbage. Quinn Hughes collecting random secondary assists is NOT an effective TEAM power play WHEN IT MATTERS. It's garbage.
IF HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF – EP40 will be thrown under the bus (sabotaged) by Vancouver Canucks management (ownership) (AND coach… yes…) asked to play stupid positions… I have a feeling he will be sharted on worse than Pavel Bure.
IF EP40 grows a third leg and drags the dumpster fire (that is the Canucks) to the play-off (or close to it) – he should STILL go somewhere else. He has already made enough money to last 10 lifetimes… He can afford sit out.
