Lightning displeased after losing round one. Oddly enough, seven other teams agreed with this exact thought.
Why in the world would the coyotes schedule themselves like that?
Easy fix with the digital ads. Don’t change them during play. Change between whistles.
fuck the digital ads as long as: A, moving ads and B, players disappearing during play.
i'm open to the concept, but get the tech right first please.
If they give those 11 season tickets if none make it, they might fill the Mullett.
Edit: Wait a minute…is that THE Juolevi? Didn't realize AZ was still in Desperation Mode. Also, who is the NHL kidding? Fans DESPISE those ignorant digital ad boards while watching at home.
So, has the top tier of the cat stand always rocked that much? Kinda looks like it's leaning a little, but that may just be the angle.
I wanted to go to the Australia games but rather expensive for a pre season(at least for the tickets available.) Maybe next year
We always talk about Mike Sillinger when it comes to players having played for the most teams but Future Considerations has got to be up there
Not surprised that Tampa is using the Leafs loss as motivation. Tampa had lots of injuries and were up against a healthy, motivated team, but I get where Sergei is coming from. My Leafs may have lost if Tampa was close to healthy but I'm glad they won 1 round, finally.
Why teams will jeopardize their entire season by happy a terrible start playing in 3 split squads half a world away is beyond me. On the other hand I'm a sucker for a redemption story. Go Juolevi I'm rooting for you. Dearly would have loved to be a goalie at your get the meetup Shannon but didn't get that PTO . . .
Those ideas for the digital boards are terrible they are overthinking this and its all for ways to make more money. They'd rather the extra income over having 90% of viewers being annoyed. Literally downgrading the experience for ever viewer besides those watching it live
I just want to point out that 4 of the Coyotes' PTO players are on AHL contracts with the Tucson RoadRunners, so the PTO just guarantees them an invite to camp (specificity here because a lot of guys on AHL contracts get invited to NHL camp anyway, but not all of them)
hate the board ads but hate them a lot less than jersey ads. still totally boycotting buying any merch until the jersey ads are gone. don't let them boil the frog slowly with these ads or one day the nhl will be like europe and you'll be cheering for the toronto tik tok milks or the Boston chase banks.
For some reason that name always reminds me of Dumb and Dumber… Slippy, slappy, Swanson? Samsonov! (I was way off).
Goal celebration sponsored by…….
The digital ads never bothered me, but as a European football (soccer) fan, I'm used to it I guess
All these digital bells and whistles seem so unnecessary. Remember when they used those digital boards at the accuracy shooting at the all star game? They sucked.
Sometimes less is more.
My honest opinion is that Mr. Betman and Co. does not care about the product they oversee. Only the money line. The simple truth is that the tech is not there with the board ads. Or the fancy overlays they do sometimes. If there are constant flashing and moving things on the screen that are not the players or the puck, there is going to be a tendency to at least glance at it … taking away from the experience.
The NHL is doing a great job of driving away older viewers. Too many ads, too hard to find the games, too many blackouts. I foresee more time without hockey in my future, unfortunately.
Again I will say I had no problem with the digital board adds did not distract me from the game as much as some claim but it’s just me.
Gary "Democracy" Bettman strikes again.
"We voted and had a poll and everything, so we listen to the fans and everyone agreed that everything we do here is fantastic."
Real question though, where was this poll or vote and who got to vote, was it the owners or did Gary just ask himself again?
CuJo is also one of my all-time favorite goalies! I think having a tribute to him is so cool, especially because I became a fan of him during his time in Toronto.
I totally agree with your comments on the board ads. I liked it a lot better when we didn’t have the digital ads at all, although I’m not one of those people who screams and complains about it. I just like to see what people at the game get to see. And I totally agree about getting to see the player celebrations up close. If it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it.
Love the respect for Cujo. One of the greatest all time netminders. That Arizona schedule is borderline insane, but could they leave some PTO players for the other teams? Still less than half of the League don't have any PTOs yet going into camp, but there's still time if Arizona leaves anyone. It sounds like the NHL want to go full on FOX TV Puck on those ad boards and it makes me sad.
Digital ads make me want to turn the game off. Find myself concentrating harder and will boycott any that advertise there.
In my experience, and I've asked a lot of Sabre fans about this, it's really 50/50. Personally, I no longer notice them. Granted, when I watch a game, I generally focus on specific players during each shift rather than following the puck around like a monkey; however, I know people who are constantly distracted by them.
i'd rather digital ads than whoting out the jerseys with corporate logos
Digital Buttman is messing things again. Sound more like a videogame celebration and advertisement that is in NHL24 than real NHL.
Goal celebrations on the boards sounds like one of the most stupid ideas ever concieved by the NHL. Why show it on the boards when you have the guy right there celebrating?
Do your own surveys, Shannon 👍
I got a good idea for how they could incorporate goal celebrations with ads and not have it be too invasive or cut from the celebration itself. Each team should have an ad sponsor that pops up in a banner at the bottom of the screen. X team scores brought to you by Y organization.
1:40 … What idiot came up with that schedule? Is this the NHL's fault, or did Arizona screw up?
They added those digital boards to some snooker tournaments and it's very very distracting. Unfortunately it makes money so fan dislike wilbe ignored. I expect the NHL to follow suit until a hockey game is as gawdy as the Vegas strip. 🤔
Why does ESPN hate hockey so much?
I don't even notice adds on boards or anyplace I watch every leafs game and couldn't tell you what add there is was
Thank you so much for the goal-less “Future Considerations” joke. That actually made my day
Seeing the player's reaction to scoring is many times the best part. Why would anyone want to see some board shit?
a lot of it is just location and exposure. for how long was Barkov the most underrated in the game…Florida (of all places) was like NHL siberia then. nobody paid much attention or respected them…but when they played your team you definitely noticed Barkov
Maybe eventually they'll have digital hockey playing over a giant ad reel
They polled the fans….
Just the fans at one game who couldn't see the distraction.
