Habs Thoughts – The Lost Players (Phillip Danault, Corey Perry)

OK guys, its time to have a little chat about some of the players that have moved on from Montreal. In the last Habs Thoughts video, I discussed my thoughts on the new faces that will be arriving in Montreal next season. Such as David Savard, Mike Hoffman, etc, but with the new faces coming in, means there are some significant pieces that are leaving as well. Which includes recently signed Corey Perry, who was snagged by the Tampa Bay Lightning, Phillip Danault, who was signed by the Los Angelos Kings, and Tomas Tatar, who hasn’t found a home yet, but he is definitely on the move, or at least I think he is.

If you guys are a fan of the Habs, or just hockey in general, please consider subscribing to my channel, as I upload hockey content daily and would really enjoy, having some more of you grasshoppers tag along for the ride.

  1. Corey Perry is a traitor
But at least Tampa won’t win another cup

  2. Habs just signed Matthieu Perreault , while I was editing this vid . let me know your thoughts on the signing right here !!

  3. With Perrault in the lineup he will fill the void of Perry the team has improved and are making a big run for the cup Hoffman and Savard, like come on best of the Offensive and defensive market. Also I believe Drouin will have a very good season he is for sure going to bounce back. And if that were not enough Toffoli is gonna get 20 goals Caufield will most likely get 20 Suzuki will probably get 20 goals and our defense is as strong as its been For a long time Like c'mon Wideman, Savard, Chiarot and Romanov in our top 4 like thats a heck of a d core . Our goaltending is as always very strong the only thing we need now is a short term deal with a #1 center so we can give Evans, KK and Suzuki so more time to develope into are top 3 centers .
So I dont think losing perry and danault is all that bad.

  4. Scorey perry will be missed but we have younger faster bodies and he decided to join the lighting at their collapse

  5. I get Danault leaving, he wanted more than what the Habs were offering him and he didn't want to be put in a pure defensive role.
Still annoys me how they were only half a million apart.
Bergevin not resigning Perry though is really upsetting. He was such a great influence for the young guys and was such an important part of the team.

It was only one million a year for two years. The Habs could have easily resigned him.

Radoulov, Markov, Danault and Perry. All key players Bergevin simply let walk away because they couldn't come to an agreement. The worst part is that what the Habs offered and what they players ended up getting wasn't a big difference. (Never more than one or two million apart.)
I understand that you can't just give in to whatever a UFA wants or else the team will be in deep trouble in the long run, but it's still upsetting too see it happen so often.

  6. Your the man Junkie, I m totally devastated over Perry going ,I think he was the glue for the crew. Good ridden s Danault 👏it's obvious he had no intention of staying ,that contract is very simular to what Habs offered ,he had all intentions that he was more than that. The kids will take a little time but between Evan's Poeling or kk one of them will fill that role. It take s a little time to adjust to that game though ,give it a year or 2 . I don't know what the helm the Habs are doing ,but don't expect much. I ve seen enough of the picking bad characters, but let's give them a chance . However I think were going to find out how much we miss Perry . Great job junkie, I agreed with most of what you said . 👏 And for those who can't respect others opinions move on ,your comments are ment for your opinion of the host topics ,not comments from others commenting on the show. Thats their opinion s ,you don't get to disrespect them for it . If you don't like the opinions, you ignore them ,and make a comment to the host . Have a nice day . Great job junkie, got your back 👏👍

  7. Perry I understand
but Danault what the fuck, 500k more and also LA has Kopitar, Turcotte, Byfield, and Villardi at Center so he’ll be a 4th liner halfway through the contract why not be the 3C in your fucking hometown after hyping everybody up you were staying

  8. We're pretty thin in the hockey hair depth chart. Petry might have to grow his back, because Romanov is still young to be carrying all the slack

  9. Really, really sorry to hear that Corey P. has left. He kept the other teams players on their toes. Between him and Gallagher they took the team to another level.

  10. oh man, we can go back to hating corey perry, easy, and in fact we cann see this as perry for savard, not bad!
    dan leaving hurts, quebequoily
bergevins bicep suqad would make a good poster
    great stuff junkie, always fantastic!

  11. I'm wondering what the lineup will look like because they are pretty loaded along the wings. Gallagher, Hoffman, Anderson, Caufield, Drouin, and Toffoli are wingers that would be in the top 9. Then you have Armia, Byron, Perrault, Paquette, and maybe Lehkonen OR Poehling fighting for the 4th line

  12. I just said this in the Talking Habs crew chat

    Loss Adds
    Tatar – Hoffman
    Perry > Perreault
    Danault > Paquette
    Weber > Savard
    Fleury > Wideman
    Merrill
    Gustafsson
    Staal
I feel like the Habs just won the jackpot and decided to play their winnings off instead of cashing in

  13. Perry would be nice but a pick would hopefully grow in confidence and be a fulltime pro in afew years and long time gain

  14. So glad Montreal didn't give Danault that horrible contract. He was garbage all season. Taking defensive zone faceoff doesn't warrant that kind of money. He can't ride Price and the 4 Pronger's coat tails anymore in LA.

  15. I'm a big Habs fan and recently came across your channel. Love your commentary and pretty good analysis. I love philly pizza face but he is not 5.5mil a year kinda love. I really thought they should have kept Perry. But overall I am pleased with Habs off season.. Keep the videos coming bud!!

  16. I will miss Danault a little, but Perry, why?? Come on, it must have been the term, he wanted 2 years and MB must have said one or none, he's been known to be a dick, Perry seemed like he wanted to stay here, he was almost crying when talking about it.

  17. Big holes in the line up, Danault isnt gonna be that hard to replace, and I think we can even cover Weber's spot, but we STILL need goal scorers, we had a tough time scoring this year, and I dont think we r going to have as good a team as we did this year, unless Bergevin pulls off some miracle, like lands Eichel or some other big SCORING center!! He wants $10M I hear, offer him $10.5 M, webers contract will be $8.5M, so it's like we got him for $2M!! Just do something big Bergevin, make me say wow, I was wrong, he does know what he is doing, PLEASE!!! Ive never wanted to be proven wrong so much in my life!! lol.

  18. Danault did a lot for the team during the play offs. But I feel his departure is not that great of a loss. Team has to make it to the series. And during the season Danault wasn't as productive. I wish him well. I watched his interview and yeah. Blah blah blah, buh bye. See ya good luck. Next. I was suspecting that Perry wasn't staying based on Bergevin actions. He said he made an offer and no response, and in the same time signed some offense. I think the B man did good. Signing Perreault for 950k and last season he made 4million coins. Something suspicious about a player willing to drop that much. But it's still a good deal. Savard and Hoffman are good calls too. I think the Habs might actually have improved.

  19. Kings have Anze Kopitar on top line, and there's a young C who will eventually be 2nd line. Danault will stay on 3rd line. I don't buy the "scared of being replaced" bit. Maybe he should have signed with Buffalo instead?

Sad to see Scorey Perry go, though. Think Weber being out for the year affected his decision?

  20. I get why he didn't want to pay Danault too much while he was slowly getting pushed aside and losing ice time to more productive centers. Corey Perry though?! Really?! I always give the benefit of the doubt to Marc but for the first time i can't. If he's not crashing the plane on purpose i have no fucking clue what is going on.

  21. question for the Q&A – have you and Scotian Canadian chatted about collaborating on a pre season breakdown chat or something? you guys need to organize a meet up a some point!

  22. I think LA will probably be looking to buy him out before his 6 years are up. But I wish him all the best.
