Great episode boys! The Stutzle comment on DeBrincat was blown so out of proportion and as the days have gone on more and more keeps “leaking” about what was happening behind the scenes. Agreed DeBrincat would’ve been better suited on the top line instead of the 3rd line majority of the season
DeBrincat: It's simply a case of a writer trying to bring the toxic media culture of Toronto to a place like Ottawa. Even if ADB is unhappy being on the second line, that's fine. Hockey players all want to play on the first line, next to the superstars or most important players on the team. And the Stutzle remark was basically a "farewell and good luck", which that hack is trying to put in a way that makes it sound like he's throwing shade.
On our place in the division, People hear reports that we could finish 7th, and balk at it… and I totally get it. But it's possible that we could, yet have maybe three points separating us from playoffs. The Atlantic is just so stacked, full of talent and strong teams. Some will decline sooner rather than later, but make no mistake: Seven of the eight in this division right now have playoff potential (sorry, MTL). If the players expect playoffs, that's great, but they need to go out there and play like they want it, and push us over that line, because there won't be much separation between the #3 and #7 teams in the division.
I feel that Jonathan Berggren could be a Claud Giroux . In the long run . I bet you that he gets more than 30 Goals and 53 assist . My prediction and I stand by it .
100% agree the Debrincat comment was clearly nothing against him. Debrincat left for 2 reasons:
1. He will make more money in Detroit because he never found point-producing chemistry in Ottawa & because Ottawa has a lot of money tied to other core players, and taxes in US are way less.
2. He comes from Detroit and wants to be there.
Before the Noris injury the Sens had 1a & 1b forward lines with Noris & Stutle centering. Debrincat would have gotten the minutes, but when Noris got injured, the coach tried all different line combos, but Debrincat had a super slow start to the season and just couldn't find chemistry, hit a lot of posts, and ended up slotting into the 2nd line, which was more of a 3rd line with young Pinto centering instead of Noris.
In regards to friends off the ice and not on the ice with Raymond. I still remember Larkin dropping the gloves with werenski.
Everyone is freaking out about the moves and expenditures but I believe he signed long term pieces to longer contracts. We have room to add a super star (technically we need 2) and won’t have to worry about getting core guys later and at the cost of sacrificing the future. These signings also help see if the core pieces we have are going to hold up in 2-3 years.
Yzerman never said "season opener"
Really do appreciate the rational approach you guys bring to your analysis, clearly grasping the time-based decisions SY is making until the team reaches their window. Too many folks think that every move he makes today will lead to a Stanley Cup tomorrow. Just doesn't work that way. So thanks for your insights. Keep up the great work.
stutzle hit 90 points in his 3rd nhl season.. raymond is about to be in his 3rd season do u think raymond could get 90 points or even at least 75-80 like stutzle did in his 3rd season
ADB didn't want to be in another country away from his family…it's super easy to realize this…everything about his departure has been overblown
The taxes are much higher in Canada then in the states. DeBrinket is at home with family. Settled with a long contract. What's not to like?
