so they got weaker on D, the offense is the same and they are gonna break through over Ottawa lmaoo! They lost 10-3 in 2 games, and debrincat had 1 point
As a Canucks fan always had a soft spot for the Wings, they are icing a real gem of a future here, adding Debrincat might give them a shot in heavy East, although they still might be a year off.
With how long they were a dynasty and always at the top of the league, I'm fine with them being in the basement for another handful more years.
I don't think so, but man, they are close. I'm not a Red Wings fan, but I fully believe they'll be back in contention as soon as next year

They have a very promising young team and specially as a Swede, there is a lot to be exited about.
It will depend on their goaltending whether Detroit makes the playoffs. However this will be an exciting team for Detroit fans and another year of development.
I look forward to the November 9th game against Montreal. Probably the only game I will take in live this year.

They got a few question marks for me 2nd line C 2nd pair RD and goaltending they have a lot of defenseman but not a lot of quality and a lot of money in the pressbox on that backend

I think the Red Wings will have an inconsistent start and will gel by the end of the year. With so many personnel changes it takes a while to form a solid team. If they hit on all cylinders earlier – hats off to the coaching staff. If later, then it's on the management too.
Honestly Shannon as a Red Wings fan I feel you been pretty optimistic. You're pretty consistent when it comes to the Red Wings. I think you're harder on your own teams like the Vancouver Canucks lol
For Husso to hit 50%+ quality starts, the defense has to be better. If he was 55-60% quality starts last season, he'd have been putting the team on his back.
Also, Edvinsson is still recovering from shoulder surgery. I don't think he is even supposed to be ready opening night. Kasper is recovering from a broken knee cap, but he did play on that broken knee cap one game last season. Beyond injuries, Yzerman has over signed again, so anyone looking to break into the NHL would have to come up and waive an NHL talent themselves.
Even given all the off season adds, I don't think Steve is done tweaking yet. He will keep a real close eye on Buffalo and Ottawa, and if January comes and they are still middling around in 7th place in the Atlantic, I could see some drastic moves being made.

Great video. it feels like just a matter of time before detroit stops talking about contributions from FA signings and starts getting smothered with prospects evolving. I think they start making playoffs as is, and start a new playoff streak when the latter happens.
No, no it's not the year they break into the playoffs. Perhaps if they were in a different division, but where they are, no. Maybe next year, but probably 2 years away.
