  1. I always had a much bigger problem with the Franzen story than the Marner story when it came to considering Babcock worthy of coaching again. I have a feeling it will turn out this was all exaggerated like Boone Jenner says, but if not, there’s no coming back for Mike.

  2. Honestly this situation seems overblown. I get that it’s a little weird he put it up on a projector, but it sounds like the players had control over what was being put up, and that some players may have just found it a little strange, especially given his history. Very successful bait by someone who’s job it is to try and generate stories

  3. There is still two sides to this story being given here and it really is on whos side you choose right now.
Realty is that this is nothing brand new. Oldest example i can think of is the reason Patrick Roy left Montreal.
There is so much more to the story there which starts with who was patrick Roy's roommate in his rookie year… (spoiler.. it was Tremblay)

Babs has been a bully for a while, but unlike Tortorella who will get in your face, Babs like to be devious and underhanded, back door sort of crap. He doesn't have ANY reason whatsoever to ask for photos to get to know the players better'. Try talking to them.
HE seriously THOUGHT that was going to come off as a valid excuse? He's getting confident he can get away with things now since he's done it on 3 straight teams.

  4. All this was OK prior to Toronto turning on him. It’s clear we have a TON of non biased media and fan opinions. Two sides to every story, I don’t know what went down but it sure does seem they had thousands of “hockey fans” in the room seeing what happened too. Wild right?

  5. Asking players to share pictures on their phones is just plain weird. What business is their family life of his? His only concern is their performance on the ice and as a team mate. It's a mind game and control freak tactic.

  6. The more I think about this the weirder it is. Even if he did just ask for family photos that's still weird lol. Imagine meeting with your new boss and they ask "Can I see the pictures of your family on your phone?" Even if Babcock didn't have malicious intent he's still a weird dude.

  7. Seems beyond foolish for someone with Babcock's reputation of being petty, vindictive and manipulative to pull a silly power move like this at the begining of his second chance. If he ends up getting fired, Babcock has no one but himself to blame.

  8. PR nightmare? CBJ have never had this much press. No matter which way it goes, CBJ is now in everyone's living room, so to speak. I'd bet ticket and jersey sales are up since this broke. THG is wearing a CBJ jersey everyday!

  9. I don't get it. What is wrong with the current generation. We older folks live and die by sharing our family pics with anyone who will look at them. It is a great way to tell someone you care about their opinion. The real problem here is this generation being so woke all the time. Makes me sick.

  10. How the team asked a couple players to come out and say it was a nothing burger about at the same time Babs did, while confirming the story in the most cookie cutter way and nearly doing legal threats, just screams damage control from the Columbus Blue Jackets.

They really dont want to pay millions for a 2nd head coach and admit they fucked up by hiring this legendary figure in the first place, which might put the job of whoever hired him in jeopardy, eventually.

Who knew hiring a bully targeting young players in a young players team was a bad idea.

  11. i cant imagine what aaaall these people coming out of the woodworks defending(!) Babcock are thinking!

  12. Ive never heard of spitting chicklets before. And meeting and asking about family seems like an attempt to be friendly that is a hard bordline of super creepy and they would feel forced by your boss

  13. Still think this is some National Enquirer bs. Sure some young kids might have felt wrong about it, but that could also be true if they went by him and he asked how was your weekend.

  14. Just a terrible hiring decision. The guy is a piece of work and has not changed one bit. The quicker they fire him, the better for the whole organization.

  15. Kinda think this is being blown out of proportion, was really suprised that there was an investigation after jenner came out and defended babs. But i still dont understand why he was hired in the first place hes a distraction and his mind games are just weird.

  16. We will know which players complained, as they will be healthy scratches and have their careers undermined.

  17. Yes! Just give another chance to the most toxic hockey coach in North America! What could go wrong?! 💀

  18. They should’ve hired Patrick Roy instead he’s a proven winning coach that knows how to coach the new wave of young nhl players

  19. This is only a story because its Babcock haha. A lot of us grew up in a time where it was super common to share pictures. Also a lot of the morons crying about how weird it is also post pictures Babcock would have asked to see on instagram for the world to see. Would it have been less weird for Babcock to go to players instagram and grab the pictures himself and post them on the wall before the players come in? My wife's company asked her for a picture of her family a couple of times, should I alert the NHLPA?
