What is your ideal Kraken roster on opening night?

Who do you think makes the 23-man NHL opening night roster, and who starts the season down in AHL Coachella Valley?

You can use CapFriendly’s cool roster builder tool which automatically calculates things like cap hit https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/create/kraken

I think one of the toughest decisions for the team will be Tye Karte vs Kole Lind as the 14th forward. Lind had an excellent year in the AHL (30g + 32a = 62p) and must pass through waivers to be sent down to the AHL this season. Kartye is still exempt from waivers, but had a great showing with the Kraken during the playoffs.

From a purely asset management perspective Lind is the logical choice to avoid losing him to another team on waivers. From a “earns it” perspective I think Kartye has the advantage.

Personally my guess is that the team goes with the latter approach and Kartye makes the roster, subbing in as needed probably for Yamamoto unless someone is injured. If Lind makes it through waivers he’s probably the next callup if a winger is needed.

The other debate is whether Wright should be on the opening night roster or just start full time in the NHL. I can see good reasons for both approaches. But unless Hakstol is willing to give him decent 3rd line minutes from game 1 I’d prefer him just to be the 1 or 2C with the Firebirds and be able to have certainty about where he’s playing.

I hope Shane makes the squad have super high hopes for him
