I’d guess they’re trying to get him on a two-way deal if he looks good in camp.

We’ll take a PTO for a random guy before signing the guy who ran our PP1 last season? What are we doing? And with what money?

Never heard of this guy.

another pointless vet signing while half are top prospects rot in the AHL cough cough Beckman
edit: pointless okay no but it’s just mid and doesn’t make sense when you have younger guys who should be getting looks. Cap hell is the YEAR for this stuff.

I have some guesses as to what they’re thinking here. I’m pretty sure this isn’t a guy who’s gonna play 60+ NHL games. This isn’t a guy who’s taking a spot occupied by a Beckman or a Rossi. He’s 6’4 (or 6’3? Conflicting reports) and he hits, and he’s not a liability with the puck. He’s here to replace or augment Foligno, Maroon, and Duhaime, all of whom were injured at some point last year.
We need to remember what lesson we learned last year. The team that won the cup had ~~no~~ one player under 6 ft tall. The wild have 5 players that could see full time that are under 5’10”.
Not to mention this isn’t a guy who’s going to cost…well, anything. Do you see this guy getting a full NHL contract? He’s gonna be buried in the minors, where he can be a guy with 8 years of NHL experience, plenty of hits, and a handful of fights to his name to get called up when we’re down 4 forwards at the same time again.
Doom and gloom all you want, I think I’m into this.
