With Phillip Danault and Brendan Gallagher returning to the Montreal Canadiens lineup for Game 1 of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Toronto Maple Leafs, it appears that the odd men out may indeed be Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Cole Caufield, and Michael Frolik, as Eric Staal also appears to be slotting in as well.

  1. Dragon Slayer! They have a plan so as it seems. I'm optimistic about the Habs play but again nobody will pick the Habs to win the series. We got this!? 🤣

  2. Dragon Slayer. I don't want to pretend to know more than the coaching staff and trust they will make the best call. They are the ones talking to the players and training them so you'd "think" they know best. I just hope it goes well and we surprise alot of people!

  3. Bergevin was talking on how he will bring Caufield when he finish his year in wisconson and put him in playoffs, am I wrong ?

  4. I call bullcrap! Sit the kids and play the tired old guys going through the motions. No wonder they never advance. Stall was a good player now he sucks. Experience dosent make up for being a pilon! See ya in the fall.🙄

  5. They gain nothing in doing this. Stall and Perry bring less potential to the table for offence then Caufield and Kotkaniemi. A team that needs offence to have any chance to win this series does don't do itself any favors to take potential offence out of the lineup. What are they trying to shelter these two?

  6. At this point Canfield is to one dimensional, the playoffs are a different beast you can’t be just one dimensional, he could serve as a PP specialist but they don’t call penalties in the playoffs, in Byron you get a guy that can play in all situations excellent on the forecheck is defensively responsible and is a elite PK guy, in the playoffs you’re trying to win 1-0 Byron gives you ability to do that verse winning 7-5 then Canfield is your guy.

  7. I think KK should replace Staal, if they do that I think that's the best version of this team. Caufield's got talent but I think stick to the more experienced guys for the beginning.

  8. What do you actually say at the end of the video? You hope we enjoyed what? I've been watching for ages but I can never make it out.

  9. if they're playing staal over KK they're idiots. if they're not playing caufield, they're idiots.

  10. caufield should be in if i was jeff molson or bergevin i would tell ducharme play cole caufield with nick suzuki

  11. Bergevin and Ducharme may be playing some head games and ice a completely different lineup on Thursday I think

  12. 1st game of series are kind of brutal. Cole Caufield might get crushed. I am disappointed, but not necessarily against it.

  13. As a Habs fan, I am so disappointed in the short-sightedness of this fanbase. I believe we should ice the team that gives you the best chances of winning GAME 1. You're not planning the whole cup run, you plan the next game and that's it. And don't give me that crap about "well, we don't expect them to win so might as well make the kids play". I don't expect them to win the series, but I expect them to try to. They have an honest chance but not if they throw the towel preemptively. I have no doubt in my mind that KK and Caufield will see action before long because what Staal says is true: teams that win in playoffs use way more than 19 guys when all is said and done.
Game one will be in Toronto, we won't have the last change and Mtl/Tor is a passionate rivalry. Just look at Tampa vs Florida Game 1 last week-end. It was brutal and I want to see the tone the first game Thursday will take before we throw the rookie to the lions. I don't want him to be seen as a savior, that's how we always end up destroying young players, by expecting too much, too early.
Also, Ducharme has no obligation to reveal his actual Game 1 lineup before Thursday night so things could change as well, we're just desperate to talk about tomorrow that we forget today is still going on.
Remember: the Habs were one of the dominant teams in the first quarter of the season, and that was without Caufield. Let's try to go back to that and THEN add Caufield when it makes sense.
Anyway, that's my take on this and I really wish people would just chill and cheered for their team instead of unloading on them like they're a team in need of fertilizer.
    Go Habs Go!

  14. Thank god KK sits he sucks anyways! Only good thing is we will get him on the cheap and maybe this kid will practice like crazy in off season and come back better in 2022. Caufield is too young to be in line up. Going to hopefully be a banging series. We have the advantage if they play banging hockey! Plus we have better goaltending.

  15. If the Habs loose with Caufield in the lineup people will accept, but if they loose with him out of the line up, Ducharme and Bergevin will be in for a long summer. The press and the fans will not accept this.

  16. This is by far the worst decision by Domenic Ducharme by not playing Kotkaneimi and Caufield. Have you seen Kotkaneimi’s numbers was outstanding in the play in round but why now!
