The Anaheim Ducks are yet to sign TWO huge RFAs they have to sign before the start of the season. Trevor Zegras and Jamie Drysdale are some of the most prominent young faces on the Ducks, as well as around the league. We haven’t heard much about these coming contract signings with little time before the beginning of the season, but in this video we go over everything we already know, as well as all the new news from reports and interviews over the past few days giving some reasoning as to why these contracts have not yet been completed and signed.

how does rfa work if a deal doesnt get made? do other teams get to offer him a contract and the ducks have to match it if they wanna keep him? hell sign a 3 or 4 year deal 7.5-7.75m aav is my prediction. Like you said, Anaheim would be putting themselves in a precarious spot if they bridged Z and he develops into that 95-100 point player in a couple years. It's very possible he sees a 15-20 point jump in production this year mainly because of how awful Eakins was as a coach. The guy never employed any system conducive to defensive structure, puck possession, or sustained O zone pressure. As a result, Anaheim barely had the puck, thus making it far harder for Zegras to produce. Not to mention the fact he spent time with 4th liners like Derek Grant and Brock McGinn at points this year, making it even more admirable that he still produced 65 points. The prudent thing for Verbeek and the Ducks to do would be to lock him up 8 years around the 8-8.5 range if possible. With the cap rising in the next little bit, Zegras and his camp are very likely the ones pushing for the short term deal. Z seems like the type to bet on himself as well. It would be very concerning if Verbeek was the one in favor of a bridge deal because that would indicate he doesn't truly know what he has in Zegras.
As for Drysdale, I really have no idea why it's taking so long. Guy missed essentially all of last year, a bridge seems feasible for both sides. Short term deal for him to prove he can be that top pair guy and PP1 QB before Mintyukov or Zellweger eventually assumes that role. Sucks because Drysdale looked vastly improved defensively before getting hurt last year. Great video brother 👍
