Fanbase that whined about the Hawks not deserving Bedard because people in authority covered up an abuse of power, immediately rally around a person who abused power and almost covered it up:

For the record, I know that every fanbase has loud annoying factions (ours included). But this past season, I got so sick of CBJ fans and others talking about how they deserved Connor Bedard more than the Hawks. As if A) it wasn’t a random lottery and B) everybody involved that was still part of the organization is long gone.
Now that they encounter a situation where their own organization was trying to cover up an (objectively less serious) abuse of power, it was all about rallying around…Mike Babcock??

There’s no point putting energy into logical reasoning anymore. The facts have been out for years and they aren’t going to connect the dots.
If Columbus fans want to talk shit we can remind them that even with one of the biggest scandals in sports, players would rather play for our team than there’s.
They have as many high profile scandals as they do playoff series wins as a franchise.
Their only franchise legend to have a number retired still left them for a bigger market.
Their jersey appears more often in top free agent articles than the NHL shop bestsellers page.

This doesn’t seem petty at all lol

Internet hockey fans are insufferable. The takes that are basically unanimous on here and Twitter are nothing I’ve ever heard from people in real life. Literally two different worlds.
