  1. Prediction: Cossa doesn't play a single regular season game for Detroit. I sure hope I'm wrong.

  2. Trey Augustine will eventually be a number one goaltender. Unfortunately Cossa will not and Wallstedt was always the better pick at that spot. 😢

  3. Not even gonna wait to watch this…I'm gonna say right now I pray you two are reasonable about Cossa. With terrible replays and terrible defense in front of him, there's no real conclusions to draw from this. Yeah, he might have let in a few bad ones. It's statistically likely, just because he allowed so many more than the other guys. But the team had basically no system in front of him, all 3 games were guys cobbling together something that vaguely resembled pro hockey.

  4. Guy never shows up for the redwing tournaments. I'm sure he will pick it up. That being said.. looks like we drafted him too high

  5. At what point do you question the scouting staff? We traded up with Dallas to get Cossa, and they used our pick to get Wyatt Johnston, 24 goals his rookie year which would have been tied for 2nd with Perron on the Wings last year. Also, it's time to have doubts about Cossa, WAY too many excuses get made for him. Was this a good situation for a goalie? No. Do you expect the 15th overall pick to do better than a .759 SP and a 9.19 GAA? Yes. I have said this before, and I will say it again… I have never seen Sebastian Cossa play well. Each time I've watched him you hear the announcers say "He wants that one back", or "His biggest asset is a short memory". I've heard he played good in Toledo, but anytime I have seen him play against talent he is a sieve. We had Wallstedt right there for the taking, and we tried to be the smartest team in the league, and it isn't looking good.

  6. I tend towards Mr. Bentleys opinion which is that this is a prospect tournament with 6 random invites. Good news is that Bednar looked pretty good!!

  7. They drafted Augustine for a reason. Drafting Cossa (both by trade up and skipping Wallstedt) is just another move by Yzerman in a long list of dumb moves

  8. Cossa = stiff as a board. Worst reflexes I have seen in a goalie
Lombardi = potential Adam Oates; very crafty
Hanas = will score 20 or more in the NHL very quick shot and moves well
Sawchuck = always notice when he is on the ice
Danielson = never notice when he is on the ice
Soderblom = needs to work on his shot
Bednar = looks like legit goaltending prospect
Kasper = good energy, good speed..very low offensive skills; will struggle to score in NHL
    Wallinder = nothing eye opening

Watched all 3 games that was my overall reaction

  9. Cossa isn’t the answer the wings are looking for yet, but the wings need scoring and something these prospects showed this tournament is that they can score as a team. That is good news.

  10. As a Walleye fan, I go to numerous games each season. I’ve seen Cossa play, live. He’s been great for a 20 y/o goalie. He’s only played one pro season. He’s developing.

Goalies take the longest to develop. There’s no reason to rush him or doubt the pick yet imo. We’re at least 2-3 years away from seeing what he’ll be.

  11. It's nice to see all the Pro Goalie coaches come out from their man cave for this one. Such prestige and reputation showing up, I've never seen it before.

  12. People are really quick to jump on Cossa and I get it, you want him to excel in every situation. The reality of Saturday was he was actually playing fairly well for most of the 1st period, but the second period CBJ had alot of power plays and actually had some really good plays as well. Cossa has his share of blame on letting in some weak goals but he wasn't terrible the entire time and some goals weren't really on him. There were a couple times it seemed like he completely misread what was going on, I would have loved to see some different angles to better see what he was doing. In the end he looked rusty, and uncomfortable (even when he was playing well he seemed uncomfortable), and didn't have much in front of him for defense. Bednar looked way more comfortable and overall had a better outing. That said, I'm not sure that 2nd period against CBJ would have been good for him either.

To me what is equally or more worrying is that Kasper and Danielson didn't stand out on offense much at all. They both seemed decent on the defensive end, Danielson was a bit more dynamic but both were largely forgettable. Wallinder had a pretty decent defensive game going, Tuomisto seemed rusty or really mistake prone, as did most of the rest of the defense. Soderblom, Hanas, and Lombardi all had pretty good outings, Doucet and Gibson didn't look out of place either. Sima and DeSouza also seemed to have good outings for invitees.

Interesting 3 games where the "big names" didn't do alot but the next group and those lower seemed to do well. Its a prospect tournament so its basically meaningless, but interesting nonetheless.

  13. We need to punish Cossa. Have him play with 17 year olds to humiliate him or something. He is taking his opportunity for granted. Unacceptable.
Completely unacceptable. Anyone who defends him, for any reason, is simply motivated by outside interests, uninformed, or trolling. He was by FAR the worst player in this tournament. Take the gloves off; he's a professional player now.

  14. I get that Cossa is just 20 years old and that goalies take longer to develop, but Cossa just look awful the whole tournament. He got outplayed by every goalie he played against. Not what you would want to see from a first round draft pick!

  15. I was willing to forgive cossa for that game against Columbus because everyone has a bad game but then he followed it up with the game against Toronto where he blew the game immediately after coming into the game! Dudes is headed towards being a huge bust!

  16. It was hard to tell at the two games I was at in TC. It seemed like the defense just crumbled when cossa was in net vs the other goalies. Cossa also played poorly. It was hard to tell which was worse

  17. I thought Kasper looked great and stood out, he just didn't have all the hockey assist points that Danielson got, where I didn't think he stood out except on the scoresheet
