Avs Lines Following the Tatar Signing. Frankie Out For A While? Rookies Take the Ice

Now that the dust has settled following the Colorado Avalanche signing Tomas Tatar to a one year deal, we can now stop asking who might slide into that final forward spot when we would guess what the lines would look like in past episodes.

Tatar makes this roster not only complete, but as deep as any other team in the conference, and the Avalanche will once again be a difficult team to contend with from top to bottom.

However, one area of depth that might be lacking to start the season is the goalie position, as team GM Chris MacFarland stated Pavel Francouz will likely miss some time due to a lingering injury. How long will he miss? MacFarland did not say, but it is believed the team is looking for a replacement. Whether that replacement is short-term or long-term will likely determine how the Avalanche navigate this.

Finally, the Avalanche rookie camp is underway in Las Vegas, and the Avalanche have won both games they have played so far. Who looks good, who hasn’t?

  1. i'm not even going to try guessing lines yet, but i do agree that they'll give Drouin and MacK a good long look together during the preseason and maybe into the season. the one think i think you kind of overlooked in the goalie conversation is the waiver wire possibilities. lots of solid contenders in that potential market.

  2. I'd go with
    Drouin Mack Nuke
    Lehky RyJo Mikko
    Tatar Colton Wood
I'd give Ben Meyers a look on the 3rd though

  3. Regarding lines, in Bednar I trust. He’s a bit of a mad scientist when it comes to flipping lines around so I’m just going to say we’ll likely see a lot of different combos in the first month as he searches for the right chemistry.

  4. I think everyone ,with you two guys and commenters, make some good points. I do think Drouin is on the top line. I thought that he struggles with confidence? What better than to put him with MacKinnon? Furthermore, if he’s Nate’s buddy, maybe they want to keep him happy.

  5. I believe they are waiting to see how injured Frankie is , they have a month, they will play the kids in pre-season , then if Frankie is off for a while you put him on LTIR , and pick up a back up on waivers , there’s so many 3rd G that have to pass waivers before the start of the season ,, I don’t see that as a problem,,, even if Anunen plays 5 to 6 games that’s ok,,, this is the last year he can go up and down without waivers, so that’s another solution if Frankie is out less than 2 months,,, PS Drouin at C , no ty I’ve seen it here in Mtl , trust me he can’t play there

  6. Since Justus got drafted I have just waited for him to have the chanche at NHL and now Frankie injured this year might be it 🙂

  7. Drouin-MacK-Rantanen
    Lehk-RyJo-Nuke
    Wood-Colton-Tatar
    McD-Meyers-O’Connor

    Toews-Cale
    Girard-Manson
    JJ-Byram
