  1. Historically, Hobey Baker winners if they're a junior or senior don't really do much in the NHL. It's only lately that they turn out to be good NHLers at a pretty high rate.

  2. Hockey East wasn't as balanced as the Big Ten this year. Only two teams made it to the national tournament, and Merrimack was a bubble team. The Big Ten with only 7 teams in the conference had 4 teams in the top 8.

  3. The same people picked Jimmy Vesey over Kyle Connor so…

If Hutson couldn't get in the Top3, at least Levi should have been there. Way before Knies.

  4. I just think it's ridiculous how there's 2 guys from the same team up for NCAA MVP. I feel the same way with McDavid and Draisital for the Hart trophy.

  5. Matthew Knies isn’t even a top 15 player in that league, like he is barely a top three guy on his own team, let alone in the league.

  6. I’m sorry but Matthew knies is so overrated. Plays with Cooley who is a stud and is the leafs top prospect so of course he’s talked about a lot

  7. I know it’s difficult for people to see from looking at the stats, especially if they don’t watch college hockey, but from someone that watched every Gophers game, Knies is a beast in every aspect. Offence, defence, neutral zone, special teams, takeaways, transition, etc. If there was a play needed to be made, it was often Knies. Especially scoring massive goals in big moments. I think most gopher fans would agree with me in that he has been more impactful than Cooley overall this year, but they’re both amazing!

  8. It’s very rare to have a player of Knies’ size able to stick handle the way he can. How many 6’3” 209 lbs players are able to pull off the moves he can. Mainly that’s why points are not a good indicator because majority of Knies’ “highlight reel” plays didn’t = points. Also there is the side of the game the NCAA doesn’t track and that’s hitting, how many hits per game do you think Knies had?

Also as soon as Knies won B1G Player of The Year he had to be a top 3 finalist.

A good way to put it is: Knies is very deserving of being a top 3 finalist and so is Hutson. Depends what you value? The big strong, fast, hard hitting, amazing stick handling forward? Or the small, fast, smooth skating, amazing offensive , offensive defenceman?

Cannot go wrong with who you pick. Knies = a Moose, Hutson = a Jackrabbit.

Both fast and exciting animals to watch run, one uses power + speed, one uses agility + speed.

It’s not a snub, just a hard choice between two deserving players.

  9. * Off topic here, but what's ur opinion on who? will give the Bruins the toughest go as the 8th seed. For me, its mixed, I think Florida has the star power and aren't far off what their roster was when they won the President Cup, and much tougher with Thachuk and probably some sleepers from a year ago. Pens got experience and an old but winning core. Buffalo are much bigger and has upcoming defense. Ottawa has a young core that talent and fast lead by Giroux, as well has defense superstars yet to see the playoffs. So out these 4, which in ur opinion has the best chance of upsetting the Bruins if their team's goalie ends up matching the Bruins goalie shot for shot? Mines are:
1)Buffalo, they look more playoff ready,
    2) Florida, too many sleepers from a year ago and one best 2way centers in the game,
    3) Ottawa, attack with their speed can cause fits to the Bruins defense if Sens defense can make a smooth transformation on turnovers,
    4) Pens, just experience will have to be the X-factor, Sid, Makin would need to steal the show.

  10. Being a Minnesota native and watching Matthew Knies and the gophers all year long. Just looking at his points stats doesn't do his justice. He can literally do it all. If anything he deserves the hobey baker over Cooley

  11. It's good actually I hope Hutson uses it as motivation. Definitely should have been a nominee. Why only 3 players BTW why not 5?

  12. You said you were going to “go over some names” @ 1:50 that were snubbed but just talked about Hutson the whole time
