Security? Omg the money thrown around to play a game is crazy. I fought in the US military and as a disabled vet 3600 a month is my security. I wasn't plating a game. Geez Louise.
Sanderson was overpaid for a guy that has played only 77 games in the NHL. It might raise prices a little, but most sane NHL people will recognize it for what it is.
I’ve seen too many guys hit their sophomore slump and just never break out of it to feel comfortable with the Sanderson contract.
But Dahlin appears worth long term investment because he has gotten through that phase of his career already.
They'll get a deal done. I'm hoping that Rasmus thinks along the lines of Tage Thompson and still gets paid but does it in a team friendly way

I find it hilarious when players talk about "security" with contracts in the tens of millions of dollars. Let's be real here, that's way past the point of security, that's even past the point of luxury. Up to a total of 10 million dollars, ok, I'm willing to stretch the definition of security to that point. You're "securing" an easy life for you and your family 'til death do you part. But when were talking about 50, 60, hell 100M, then that's just greed at this point. That way more money than even your average mormon family can spend in a life time. Let's be real, players are looking for validation. It's all about the ego.
I'm hearing it's done and will be announced before training camp or very shortly after it starts. If not by then, "Houston we have a problem" But I don't think so.

If Buffalo signs Dahlin for 8 years, it will be a steal. The salary doesn't matter. I have never seen a defenseman with as much talent as Dahlin.
