I think Bertuzzi was the best signing of the off season. Really looking forward to seeing how he changes the dynamic. Definitely an upgrade on Bunting.
No extension until you see a season from the guy.
A one year show me contract is perfect, teams would be smart to do more of this. I'm probably in the minority on this but I was glad the Matthews contract was 4yrs, another 5yrs here is enough, then you reevaluate. Leafs need to now focus on Nylander and they need to play some hardball here. Either lets work something out now that both can live with or (my preference) sign/move him for a top 4D that has some balls
Bertuzzi will price himself out of Toronto, obviously.

I got a feeling Treliving won't rely on deadline deals for major upgrades…namely D. Treliving wants more "snaught", he's known for trading to upgrade D, equals, Leafs get an upgrade on D with likely getting a downgrade via a scorer.
