Just my two cents but…..Maybe its the start of the new NHL..maybe the shannaplan was to.define a core 5-6 guys and fill it in with prove it contracts…slight over pay …perhaps …but what if??…
On a sidenote…strategy may be …you are 27??…we(leafs) are not paying you beyond 32….is that an angle that hasnt been explored??…maybe…just maybe…the offer on the table was 5 years max..make the rest in endorsements….win win..(for auston) …its a meca of the sport….and maybe a bullet dodged
If Reaves beats up gudass i will be buying a Reaves jersey
Am just ready for the season to start already GO LEAFS GO CUP YEAR
My proposed lines:
Bert-AM34-Nylander
Domi-JT-Marner
Knies-Kampf-Jarnkrok
Lafferty-Gambrel/Gregor-Reaves
They haven’t changed until something changes in playoffs so tag me skeptical. They can win games just not in playoffs.
Bertuzzi will be a Maple Leafs Great I Believe!!!!!.Also would you have Calle Jarnkrok or a Defenceman in the realm of what he is getting paid 2.1 to a 3 million Defenceman . I like Tyler Myers 💵. with the Canucks retaining 50 percent of the contract due to him making 6 million on the cap .The Canucks want to trade him and maybe we could get him for giving up little .he's 6'7 won gold 🏅 in the recent IIHF tournament and has a year or 2 left in him .If the Zadorov route doesn't happen I think Myers is an option with Vancouver .
Mark the leafs just gotta get meaner tougher grittier bigger on the back end
Hellebuyck would be great 😎 Thanks Mark 👍
No cup til Tavares is off the books. Always remember Reilly= Early playoff exit.
John Brophy would be over the top with Ryan Reeves.Anyone who doesn't think this will help the non physical players out and give them open range, confidence, are so wrong.I think he was an excellent addition, but he has to take a shift. They refused to use the muscle when needed in the past, good thing Schenn was on the ice and willing.
Not sure about Domi. 6 teams in 7 years. Must have some issues
We need a work horse on D, we got enough race horses
I am unconvinced that Reaves will be a difference maker. I hope I am wrong, but this guy turns 37 in Jan, so I'm betting by the post-season he's not starting unless they're playing a rat team like Florida. He's built like a tank at 6' 2" & 225 lbs, but to be effective on the 4th line, you have to be quick enough to get in on the forecheck to actually 'scare' a D-man on a puck retrieval. I just don't know if he's fast enough anymore.
The other 3 guys on 1 year 'prove it' deals, I am more bullish about. Barring injury, I think Bertuzzi may have a career year & Domi will also be highly motivated playing for his childhood team. I hope Keefe can somehow get them to play decent D away from the puck. In his 1st 6 years in Dallas, Klingberg was an effective, very productive D-man & in the Norris conversation a couple of times. I am optimistic he will bounce back after 2 forgettable seasons. He looked better in Minny after the trade from Anaheim.
I hope the Leafs give Timmins a real look as I think his upside is much higher that what we've seen in a small sample size with Toronto. He's a high draft pick, big, agile, good skater, good shot, good 1st pass & was finally healthy last year after almost 3 years of recovery from a concussion, then serious knee surgery. Hopefully he's good to go from here on. I remember him in the 2018 WJC as being a real smart, talented 18 year old. He just turned 25 yesterday & could be the steal of the last couple of years for Toronto's pro scouting staff.
