With regards to the goaltending, keep in mind when Copley was called up, the Kings were sitting at 13-10-4 with a team save percentage around 88%. They finished 34-15-6, a 110 point pace. All Copley did was give them good enough NHL quality goaltending. This team is going to score a lot of goals and has a stable top four defense. If any combination of these three goalies can boast a team save percentage between 90-91% this will be a team Cup contender.
Englund turned Turcotte into a human PEZ dispenser a couple of seasons ago…must have been an interesting 16 hour flight with those two.
The 3rd pair is certainly a HUGE question mark going into the season with a potential AHL guy in Englund and likely Spence. The other question mark is going to be the performance of 29 and 39. I still think Blake goes all in on a top tier goalie at the deadline if they are indeed in the hunt.
Lastly, doubling back to Turcotte, I know he gave 39 to the vet Talbot, just wish the young man would just go with his USA and Wisconsin #15.
