Laine being bad at the dot in his first game as a center is blown out of proportion. Roslovic has been bad at the dot for 3 seasons straight. Kent Johnson has the worst faceoff percentage in 2022-2023 out of all the players that took more than 100 faceoffs in that season at 29.5 % won. Jack Hughes had 35.3, Kirby Dach 38.3, Zegras 41.4, Stützle 41.6.
Jack Roslovic shouldn’t be on the team
5:35 Only times they really matter is for special teams and in the O or D zone, and even then the importance depends on where your team is at in the game. Center-Ice and offside Neutral Zone face-offs don't matter at all, a skilled team will gain possession of the puck regardless of whether or not they start with it.
Btw I've watched the 3 Cap City Elite games Laine has played in, he hasn't taken any faceoffs.
