  1. McDonough and McWard impressed me. Most of the young guys did well.Hirose and Bains could make the transition soon. There were the goalies also. The tall guy he did really well. Our pipeline is not great, but it is not to bad. Can see several players who have a chance at playing one day.

  2. All your picks, 100% agree. McDonough had a great showing with 3 PPG in 3 games, showing off his beauty shot. And, he's hungry. Raty had a good showing as well, he's willing to take punishment and get into those dirty places to make a play. McWard and Hirose are great, Hirose with his demeanor and maturity on the ice and McWard with his ability to get the puck on net through some really tricky screens. Both are exciting defensemen!

Though, some unsung heroes for me are Vilmer Alriksson, as an 18 year old whose an absolute unit, i'm excited to see his development through the Canucks' system and with him going to the OHL this season to develop it's going to be a treat to watch. On his goal, he was definitely a great presence in front of the net and he has the size to not get pushed around. Just gotta work on the hands and edgework from what i'm told.

And a steal of a 7th rounder is defenseman Kirill Kudryavtsev. 50 points in 67 games with the Soo in the OHL last season and 39 in 68 regular season games in 21.22, I can't wait to see his progress in this upcoming season. If he trends upwards, he's got a ton of potential.

I did want to see a bit more of Josh Bloom though as he tallied 55 points in 49 games with North Bay last season, but he is new to the organization and will play his first full year with Abbotsford. He has great potential.

EDIT: He (Josh Bloom) seems to be a bit of a weapon in the post-season as well as through 20 games with North Bay, tallied 12 points and a +7. Good to know he can perform under post-season pressure, but the transition to the AHL from the O is not usually kind. I hope it goes well for him.

  3. There young stars dominate the pre season then most the Canucks actual main roster blows it during pre season against an AHL squads without McDavid or Draisaitl then they continue that habit throughout the gate at the regular season.

I'm trying not to be negative about it it's what we all witnessed, especially the past 2 or 3 years. Seeing that happen, at least they beat an Arizona AHL squad in their last pre season b4 the regular season kicked off.
Canucks: A history of preseason performances shows little correlation to regular season success.

  4. Next Hughes Hirosi smooth lefted side project 40 points fun too watched next favorite player but waiting for woo make it or Break

  5. Grade A
    Hirose (not dominant but solid)
McDonough (great shot physical play was lacking)
Tolopilo (Consistent except when the team had brain farts)

    Grade B
McWard (solid, good puck mover decent skater)
Sasson (smart, quick needs a year in the AHL)
    Bains (solid tourney)
    Raty (as above)
Maillet (invitee, smart player and good speed would be good in Abby)
Gatcomb (impressed with forecheck and nice hands)
Brzustewicz (very solid for 2023 3rd rounder)

    Grade C
    Klimovich (meh)
    Arliksson (good 1st tourney)
    Zlodeyev (looked small all tournament)
Johansson (needs time on smaller ice and to get quicker to the puck)

    Grade D
Bloom (invisible with almost zero impact)
Kudryatsev (looked out of position too often and weak defending)
