[Jeff Passan] The Detroit Tigers are hiring Jeff Greenberg as their new general manager, sources tell ESPN. Greenberg, who’s currently an associate GM with the Chicago Blackhawks, worked with Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris with the Cubs and will be his No. 2 in Detroit.

Good for him. I’m not sure how much credit he gets regarding some of Davidsons moves, but relative to where the Hawks were two years ago (Bedard lottery aside) I’m very optimistic about the future. If he had a hand in it, then the Tigers should be in good hands. Glad he’s out of the league, mad it’s with a Sox division rival. But not like that matters at all because the Sox continue to be a giant shit show.

I get wanting to be a GM, but damn that timing is rough. Literally 30 days from the start of the season.

Is that normal for a person to completely switch sports and become a GM? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that before.
