  1. You could see in his comments to the fans after aigning that he's all in and wants to be part of this core for a long time. He's worth every penny now at 8.05 already.. in a few years it's going to be a steal of a deal compared to what other D with his skillset sign for

  2. Here's the way I see it: Us and NJ are pretty much the only teams doing this right now meanwhile every other team in the league is signing their top tier players to bridge deals. When you do that, you have to pay that same player 2-3 mil more than you would have if you were just confident in what you had and took that gamble when the player has one year level on his entry level contract.

This is going to become the new league standard once they see the success and flexibility it's going to bring us.

  3. Remember that in terms of cap, they’ll have $4.5Mish coming off the books in dead cap from Murray, Ryan, Del Zotto (we’ll still be paying White). Will be interesting to see where Pinto lands in terms of contract.
Difference between us and the Leafs is that the Leafs players absolutely screwed their organization. Short term contracts with a high cap hit leading to minimal contract value in the later years because they don’t sign long term. Timmy, Brady and Jake’s contracts are all going to be insane value in 3-4 years.

  4. I was talking to a Leafs fan and he was quite jealous at all of the 8X8s Ottawa players are signing. Amazing deal, and such a nice young man. He was our top D-man by the end of last season. Sens finish in the top 3 of the Atlantic this year. Cheers

  5. And he also signed smejkel and mackewan, Imama and I think some other AHL players to some pretty good deals. Belleville could do well this year too. Summer of Pierre 2.0!!!!

  6. PD has done good except for one thing which will cost him his job and that’s hanging on to DJ smith.
They will both be replaced together soon after the season starts. DJ smith has been learning to coach in the NHL on the fly ever since he’s been here and will continue to do so. We need a real coach if we are going to make the playoffs.
