They have the exact same problem as the Toronto Maple Leafs. They are loaded at forward but are lacking a great two way defenseman and championship caliber goaltending. When they won their 4 straight cups, they had Paul Coffey and Grant Fuhr. now they aren't going to find players of THAT caliber, but you can get a solid 2 way d-man and a Vezina winning goalie I believe. Right now they need more balance on defense and between the pipes. If I were Edmonton, I would look to make a block buster trade with the Boston Bruins, who need prospects, picks, and a center. Boston has a plethora of defensemen and goaltenders. They can certainly afford to trade one of their goalies, like Ulmark, and a defenseman, such as Gryzelcyk. So what about Nugent Hopkins and Xavier Bourgault plus a 2nd round pick in 2025 for Ulmark and Gryzelcyk?
