[Drance] Now this is interesting. After being scratched in the third game in Penticton (often a vote of confidence) it looks like Arshdeep Bains is going to get a really significant look here. Opening camp in a green jersey on a line with Conor Garland and Pius Suter.

What’s even more interesting to me is Hog on the 1st line with Petey and Kuz, and Pods on the second line with Miller and Boeser.
I’m all for them giving these young guys a prime opportunity to earn their spot. We have far more internal competition in the organization now, which is great.
Edit: They’re also apparently running Juulsen with Hughes and McWard with Soucy, which ties into the above
I’m all for this.
Tocchet: Don’t pay attention to the lines at camp, especially early.
Us: LOOK AT THE LINES! LOOK AT THE LINES!
Im interested to see how Bains develops.. I get Tyler Motte vibes from him.
Able to put up big points at the lower levels, but has to adapt his game when going pro to be a bit more versatile/well rounded to make it to the next level.
Bruh… he’s obviously filling in for mikheyev.
Hoglander podkolzin and mikheyev are all interchangeable in the top 9. Bains is starting in the AHL.
It’ll be huge if Surrey has a representative on the Canucks!

Bains has Burrows potential. His hockey iq and hands are high end, the skating is key
If his skating has really improved, he sure does seem to have the hockey sense. Hoping for the best for this kid!
Personally I don’t see who Bains would push out of the expected starting roster, but would it be cool to see a local kid make the team? Absolutely!
I’d want him to have another year or two of seasoning in Abbotsford though, ideally in a leadership role, then move him up to the NHL. The next two seasons we’re likely to see a slew of young guys make the team like Hirose, McWard, Sasson, and Silovs. Gonna be fun to see who makes the push.
Give it a shot see where it goes
