Holtz is ready (hopefully)
"I can honestly say that what I saw in practice was much different than what I saw last year. It's only one practice but I watched him two days ago and I was impressed with how he was moving on the ice." – Lindy Ruff#NJDevils Holtz turning heads early⤵️https://t.co/fpBjht8G8b

Don’t get my hopes up…I can’t take having expectations for this team lol

Can you imagine our top 9 if Holtzy does pop off? Man, what a time to be a Devils fan. LFGD!
Everybody takes time to get there. He showed enough at one point to be drafted high. I think last year was a little unfair to his development because the team tore it up right away and guys in the bottom 6 were getting cycled in and out and he never got a chance to work through mistakes on the ice. Team was too good, but now things are set up nicely for him to thrive. Just skate a little better, and work on being in the right place at the right time and he has the tool set to be a legit player in the league.
This is news (maybe)
I don’t like the negativity surrounding this kid just becaue of where we drafted him and how Mercer has developed faster despite being drafted later that round.
Fans need to realize first of all that he doesn’t have a lot of games under his belt for a guy who is 21. The most games he played in a season before coming to North America was 45 & he got a 10 game taste of the AHL that year at the end of the season on a crap team that was going nowhere. The following year he was a point per game player in Utica after starting slow because of an injury and last year he was injured most of the season.
Players have different timelines, just to give some examples, Crosby was day 1, McKinnon didn’t pop til year 4-5, Coleman was 26. They are all on different timelines, if holtz makes it this year, that be awesome, if not, he is improving, visible improvements, he can still develop more and come back stronger.
