  1. I’m a huge sharks fan so this one hurts, but they got some cap space they needed. Carolina got a phenomenal guy

  2. Burns is still one of the best offensive defenseman in the game even at his age and he's a big big body who could probably still really move.

  3. weak return on Burns considering Sharks are retaining. heck, they got a 2nd and a 3rd, iirc, for a well-used Braun a few years ago. Burns was also deployed more defensively last season (43% OZS) and still put up 54 points on a Sharks team that struggled to score. Burns is also very durable with no significant injury history. CAR easily wins this trade.

  4. A good acquisition even though Burns is 37 – he is still a good puck-moving defenseman and he will provide some veteran leadership.

  5. not a huge haul for the sharks but the G prospect is good and heard DAL was only offering a bag of pucks. The loser in this trade is DAL who should of paired him up with Pavelski for instant chemistry and more goals off tips because they have their own tip plays they have perfected for 10+ years

  6. Carolina needed defence so it’s a good move. Nothing significant going back to San Jose though which is weird

  7. It's a good trade that San Jose needed to do. It's $5 mil. back in cap space and an albatross of a contract gone. I see it as the next step in the rebuild after hiring Grier and letting Doug Wilson Jr. go. Let's hope we can get a good coach that is up to the challenge of coaching a less than stellar team. I really hope that the Sharks don't offer any more contracts longer than three years for now.

  8. Nice and fair, although I'm sure Sharks fans' hearts are heavy. Y'all are getting a workhorse, blue collar kid in Lorentz who'll undoubtedly continue to improve from the production side of things.

  9. Vlassic and karlson would’ve hurt a lot less burns scored 54 points last season karlson is injury prone and vlassic is invisible

  10. San Jose really needed the Cap space to retool and the Canes just got even better–I like this trade for both sides–it's win-win IMHO

  11. Burns played the 82 year after year; Karlson about 62; Burn's motivation was down. He's got a few more good years and hopefully a cup coming. Lets get back to the hip check and that seeing eye snap wrist shot.
