I know RMNB isn’t the preferred source here, but I thought this was interesting. At first it seemed like he was just complaining about a coach he didn’t like, but he has a lot of examples of specific ways Laviolette caused the major issues the team had. Shoehorning players into the wrong style, forcing decisions, and forcing a system that caused injuries.

Bros stock is going up. Lavi was not it
If you don’t play Lavs way it’s the highway. Totally wrong way to handle players like kuz and the younger guys. He’s the opposite of what NYR needs with their young players Lafrieniere is going to be in the dog house from day 1 like Lavs did to Lapierre and Snively
Some shade at lazy players too.
I wish they’d use an actual translator and not just Google translate. The translation said “we had such central players” then listed a bunch of centers so it’s clear he was talking about something else. Good central players??
As he should. Lavi was terrible.
Glad he’s out then. I was always an advocate for McMichael getting more playing time and it’s no coincidence he’s getting more considerations since Laviolette is gone. Good to get the younger guys involved
Maybe this is just me having a poor memory, but it feels like Laviolette is getting a bit more shade from former players than previous coaches gone. I don’t think Reirden was dragged publicly by any players, I don’t remember Oates getting trashed on his way out despite deserving it, and I seem to remember a few guys (and Brooks Laich specifically) expressing a sentiment like “we let him down” when Boudreau was fired. I wonder if things were even more sour than it already looks from the outside.
Lavi sucked out loud so here’s hoping this season is different
A little shade thrown at BMac too, which I think is warranted. I thought this was a bad hiring from the start, and I know that was a common sentiment
