Saints Recreate Gleason’s Magical Blocked Punt from 2006 | Falcons vs. Saints | NFL



The New Orleans Saints recreate Steve Gleason’s famed blocked punt against the Atlanta Falcons in 2006, this time once again against the Falcons in Week 6 with Gleason himself looking on from the stands.

    Bandwagon Saints fans will never understand how HUGE that play was in 2006. First game back to Superdome after Katrina when there were rumors of the team leaving NOLA. The place just erupts after this play. Hands down the biggest play in that franchise's history.

    This is still crazy to me. Same teams, same uniforms, same stadium, same area on the field, both blocks came right up the middle. Now was it the same time on the clock. Cus if it was, then it must have been devine intervention.

    I remember this night. We were at a Texas Roadhouse at Ft. Bliss, TX. A few buddies and I went over to enjoy our time and the game came on. I remember the awesome tribute intro they did for Steve Gleason, and thought that was just the coolest thing, but then I saw this play, and about busted into tears! I couldn't believe it! Only few of my buddies understood why it hit me that hard. Beautiful play and beautiful tribute for Steve.

    I remember being there for Steveā€™s block. Iā€™ve never been anywhere louder. No one was beating us that night.

    Correct me if Iā€™m wrong but wasnā€™t the dude that blocked the point at the original game as a kid? Pretty sure muatiā€™s dad took him to that game that Gleason made that famous play
