  1. i mean in his first nhl game, ryan poehling scored a hat trick and yet he has not turned as elite as we thought he was. Yes Cooley scored a beauty but that doesnt really mean anything unless he actually plays like that every night

  2. Well yeah, Cooley is obviously more talented than Slaf. That's a very low bar to clear to be honest.

  3. As good as Mr Cooley is/was with Minnesota University, and teams Michigan with Hughes, etc, we just have to keep things in perspective and remember there was one better team, which meant 1 trophy-less in some of these first round draft picks' shelves. Way to go Quinnipiac, you had bragging rights too.

  4. It usually takes those big guys several years to develop.. I wouldn't push the panic button on Slav anytime soon

  5. Let’s see what will happen during the season. I believe slaf will be a good player.

  6. Everyone was hyped for Montreal first round pick last season. It shows you don’t rush young talent into nhl 😮

  7. Slaf bring size to the table
We already had suzuki who is the same kind of player as cooley
Slaf is 19 and have already nhl experience ! Fit perfectly with the rest of the group. Many good years ahead

  8. cooley hasn't even played in the nhl yet and he's already exposed slaf for the bum he is lol

    slaf peaked at 17 😭

  9. When the habs got Slaf, at first, they already had Dach in the visor…. so a winger and a Center in the first round for MTL.

  10. Well, I think of the 1:10 mark and reference to the Golden Gophers of Minnesota, I also think of Leafs‘ winger Matt Knies.

  11. Montreal was expected to pick Shane Wright. Cooley was never supposed to be first overall anyway, so people need to stop it with this "they should have listened to the experts" attitude. I don't think anyone had Cooley as the first overall pick on their list.

  12. Slaf shouldn't be a bust but he never should've sniffed first overall, and most definitely shouldn't have been in the NHL in year 1.

I say this with respect, as I'd personally want slaf on my team as well, but he is just simply not a player you draft number 1. There's no skillset there that sets him apart from everyone else, except maybe he can retrieve pucks for better players.

  13. Love your channel, but OMG the HUT clips make me never want to try that mode, ha ha!!. They play out nothing like real hockey. Same 4 or 5 unrealistic plays over and over again. Maybe you can't do it in HUT mode, but geeeezzzz you need some major slider adjustments man!!!! 🧐

  14. Saw this post coming as soon as I saw the Cooley highlight goal. Beautiful play, no question. But elevating Cooley and writing off Slaf because of it is nonsense…and sadly predictable. 🥱

  15. Both better than Shane Wright… who cares, 2 different players, different player types.

  16. Habs fans shouldn't panic. Bigger guys at that age are still a little clumsy. He's gotta fill out and his muscles need time to catch up. It's way easier for smaller guys to perform at a higher level.

  17. If you know about prospects then Cooley being “better” then Slafkovsky was always gonna be the case, But in my opinion Slaf won’t be to far off.. I see Slaf as a 80-85 point player that’s a beast in the playoffs with amazing size and decent speed and that’s why Montreal picked him… Cooley is a flashy speedy Center with 90-100 point potential that won’t be to much of a factor when it comes to the playoffs because he is not physical AT ALL! Decent defensively but not physical enough for playoffs…. If your asking me, I take the Big guy that can put up 80-85 points 30-35 goals and is a beast in the playoffs when it matters rather then a guy that’s Flashy 100 point potential but nowhere to be found in the playoffs… Cooley is a regular season player, Slaf is a playoff type player.

  18. Ok. Cooley has more skills and talent. Yes, Cooley will score more goals and will show up in the play of the week real often. Yes, Cooley should have been picked first. No, Slaf will not be a super star, and the Habs, as usual, made an error picking him first. The Habs are the worst first round drafters of the league. But, Slaf will not be a total flop. He will turn out to be a player with good value, somewhat like a Josh Anderson. He will be a key player for the Habs and will have a fruitful career if he can be spared the stigma of the constant companion to other draft picks which came behind him. He is a good kid and, need I remind everyone, he didn't decide to get picked first, and he is not responsible for this situation. If the Habs had picked him 15th overall we would all be thrilled about him. The issue is that he got picked first and that is not his fault. I hope that fans will cut him some slack and let him become the best that he can be without unnecessary stress. Same thing with Reinbacher. If Mitchkov comes to the league next year and scores 50 goals, this won't be Reinbacher's fault. It's the Habs fault.

  19. Slaf is still young and we will see. Wish rhey would have chosen Logan who has great skills like Cole. Hope Skaf doesnt become like Doug Wickenheiser who was chosen 1st overall many years ago
