My fear is that there are enough new faces on the Canucks that it’s going to take a while for them to gel. Resulting in a bad start. Resulting in yet another sub par season.

As a Flames fan this means absolutely nothing. It was pretty much the Flames opening night roster going up against an entire team of AHLers.

But… what I just saw was the “future” of the team was unable to put in a single goal in 3 periods. Sure it doesn’t matter.
But man… that’s a bad look.
Also, from a pure entertainment perspective. It was boring. The Boston v Rangers game was much better.

The context makes it seem less bad, but that’s not funny. So this works too. This was the Abbostford Canucks vs Calgary’s regulars. They were sent out to get slaughtered. Ngl, it is still a bad look for our coaching/management to roll those kids out there to get brutalized. We want Silovs to develop and have a good year. Lets send him out there behind an AHL blueline and AHL forwards against NHL vets that been around the block for 10 years. What could go wrong? I hope we didn’t just destroy a bunch of kids confidence after that.

I see a lot of people saying it was the full flames roster vs abbotsford but that isnt entirely true. Half the flames forwards and 1 defensive pairing were AHL guys, and even the AHL guys absolutely walked all over the canucks. The score wouldnt have been as bad sure but it was still an ugly beat down no matter how you look at it.
