Evander Kane flipped a switch, charging at Alex Pietrangelo at the end of a period and crosschecking him in the face.

  1. The bloody refs should be suspended for not calling in your face infractions on Yamamoto and Bjugstad and a few more high sticks throughout the game. Oilers would’ve had two power plays and most likely went up by three goals, but the refs didn’t want that to happen. This was a message to them that frustrated players can see right through their bull shit non calls to orchestrate the outcome of the game, easier to take it out on the opponent then the referee’s.

  2. Not that it has bearing, but it would be interesting to know what the hell Pietrangelo did earlier– if anything. If I remember correctly, the league sought to crack down on crosschecking a few seasons ago, then took their foot off the gas. I'd be interested to know how much a role crosschecking has in reducing player's playing time in the league. The cumulative effects– to the arms and back, let alone the head and neck has to add up. It's one of those infractions they have to shift to zero tolerance on to change the behavior. But, it's the NHL.

  3. Saw this live, can't say I ever really seen something so stupid before, and I grew up on late 90s/early 2000s hockey. But the DOPS just keeps letting him run around, and these phony fans come in the comments about Kane being "tough". Complete bonehead. How it was only 2 minutes is mind boggling. It's worth a 1 game suspension under current rules

  4. tahts what happen when ref dont call high stick leading to a goal prior to that .

  5. Find it really weird that Oilers fans are doing the exact same thing that some Kings fans said about the whole little girl spitting incident.
You made us spit on a little girl by being a jerk
You made us crosscheck you in the head by not calling a high stick.

  6. 9 games? That is ridiculous. But he should receive some sort of supplemental discipline. The fact that he takes so many angry strides with almost no time on the clock then cross checks him high would warrant a game…9 is crazy.

  7. Take a look at Kane’s history, so it doesn’t surprise anyone, that guy is a born looser!

  8. He deserves the suspension and more… note how fast Alex's teammates came to his aide and went after Kane… he shoulda got his tail kicked too!!…. plus that 2 shoulda been at least 4 minutes if not 5

  9. 4 games max left in the series. 4 game suspension. Absolutely stupid and reckless.

  10. Suspension. Nah. It’s playoffs. It’s definitely a penalty. But there’s way worse than that going on. Eberle got nothing…..

  11. You people think it was for nothing? You all think it's reckless but can't even mention that the two Vegas players didn't get called for high sticking. Player safety doesn't mean anything to you then. So get over it.

  12. 2 min for high stick or since it’s a shot to the head maybe a major. But it’s also the playoffs so…

  13. C’mon man, 9 games?? That’s ridiculous and would never happen. I agree it’s a penalty yes but 9 games is laughable

  14. Holy shit all you casuals crying but look the other way when they cross check to head and neck into boards. Fuck the knights and the bandwagon fans

  15. He should get 9 games for not making AP swallow half his teeth. What an absolutely stupid video. 😆

  16. Just checking to see… kane with a dirty play Check, edmonton fans going nothing to see here good hockey play… check. Should be suspended, will he doubtful.

  17. So petrangalo gets this from Kane and then borded by him next game and Alex gets suspended a game for a 2 hand slash

  18. The NHL does not have a process or a matrix and calls supp discipline all over the map. I don't know exactly how many games this should warrant, but Kane is a repeat offender, this takes place technically after the buzzer, and it is to the head of the opposing player. As @Elixir Labz mentions, you can't give a 2-handed slash to the hands a game suspension and not this. But you could clearly articulate this Kane crosscheck as a match penalty which would be the in-game 5 + game but the automatic PS review, who should give at least 2 games since a reasonable person would rank a crossheck to the head as more severe than a slash to anywhere else (except the groin). Kane's prior record should factor in as well, so maybe 6-10 is not unreasonable. That kind of decision should signal a revamp in the process (such that it is) and possibly get players thinking about how many games they miss if they don't get hold of their emotions. But that means the on-ice officials better step up their game too.

But yeah, just this guy's opinion.

  19. Tough Call needs a better angle on this. Initial contact was the arm/shoulder. Still a penalty and still a dumb hit.
