I strongly believe it's highly unlikely Kessel wants to return to us at this point for a couple reasons. Guy's a veteran, is in his mid-30s, and from what I hear, he wants to eventually sign for a Stanley Cup contender that is untouchable, and has grit / discipline. Worth noting you also have to consider our current cap situation.
