Mike Sullivan said P.O Joseph is “light years” ahead of where he was this time last year. “I think he’s a step faster, just because he’s got a year of NHL competition under his belt. And just his overall confidence level, you can see it in his body language when he’s out there.”

I definitely agree. I was one of his biggest critics the second half of last year. He really fell off a cliff with the workload he was given and was completely responsible for a not insignificant number of goals against in important situations.

So far he’s looked like the best Penguin on the ice. Obviously he has more experience than everyone else in these first couple games, but there seems to be a swagger there that was missing last year and his skating looks very improved.

I don’t doubt that he spent the summer making sure he would be ready for another 82+ game season after disappointing last spring.

    He’s streets ahead.

Last year he was streets behind.

That encouraging to hear. Our defense may be, dare I say, ***good*** this year. At very least miles better at moving the puck.

  4. “I’m still not going to play him, though.” Sullivan followed up. “Fuck them kids.”

  5. I’m no physicist, but I’m pretty certain that POJ cannot skate at the speed of 186’000 miles per second

He gets the opportunity to be a third pairing guy that doesn’t have to take up crazy minutes. People forget how good he was last year before the wear and tear caught up to him. I feel like a step up should be the expectation

Oh that’s great to hear. I was super glad they kept him.
