Honouring one of the greats. On December 14th, as your Vancouver Canucks take on the Florida Panthers, Roberto Luongo will be inducted into the club’s Ring of Honour!

First 10.000 fans to arrive at the arena will get a limited edition Luongo bobblehead

Would it be possible for them to retire both Mclean and Luongo’s #1 up at the rafters at the same time?

I don’t like this, Lu’s 1 should be retired! If the canucks are worried about the outrage caused by kirk mclean supporters as a result of this, they could have retired the number for both legends. terrible decision imo. this guy was our best goalie ever!

Good that they are doing something but I think he should be in the rafters. He’s in the HOF and had his best years in Vancouver.
The only argument against it is that McLean wore #1 first. McLean meant a lot to the city, but did he mean more than someone like Burrows? No one is calling for #14 to be retired, and Burr is one of the most loved Canucks of all-time.
I’m not going to lose sleep over it, but Lu should be in the rafters IMO

I appreciate that he’s getting recognized but put him in the rafters you cowards! Nobody has even thought about touching the number 1 since he left, might as well do it.

Still pissed we’re not retiring the number.

He is panther not a Canuck, if he won anything here sure, retire his number. But he didn’t, he went back to his team: the Florida Panthers. RoH is perfect.

Does anyone know if they will be selling his Canucks jersey?

Just bought tickets – can’t wait! Grew up watching this guy and he’s up there as one of my all time favourites with the Sedin’s, well deserved recognition (would have supported jersey retirement as well – but I’m biased)!

  10. Bieksa got the stanchion as a gift, maybe they’ll give Lou the toilet seat.

But it’s great he’s finally getting recognized. So that’s 1 HHOFer in the Ring and 3 that have their numbers retired.

And in Canucks fashion, he won’t be invited to the ceremony.

*….I’ll never get over him not playing the heritage classic.*

Ah to hell with it. Let’s pay him for just one more year.
