The three Friedman thoughts from the article on Canucks/Bear:

    > 6. Ethan Bear is skating in Kelowna, B.C. There is interest, but he’s not likely to be ready until around Christmas from the shoulder injury suffered at the World Championships. The good news for Bear is he doesn’t need to rush. Agent Jason Davidson secured an insurance package that pays him on a $3 million basis this season while out. He can get healthy and then sign somewhere.

    > 7. Remember: never jump to conclusions during the first week of pre-season play. Even if your team loses 10-0. It’s waaaaaaaay too early.

    > 8. That said, it’s interesting Rick Tocchet demoted Dakota Joshua to the non-NHL group after the ugly loss in Calgary. Tocchet liked the energy Joshua brought last season, pointing it out several times. “He has to try to win a job,” the coach told Vancouver reporters on Tuesday. “The job is not there. There are guys breathing down his neck for that one job.” Because Tocchet likes Joshua, that will not go unnoticed among the players. He is making sure the Canucks know there is no room for a bad start.

If history has shown us anything, it’s that this organization will make room for a bad start even if it seems none is available.

As disappointing as it is to see Joshua, Podkozlin and a few others struggle, at least we weren’t banking on them to take big strides this year. We’re a good few steps away from needing Gaudette and Virtanen to take metric leaps forward in order to sniff the playoffs.

Wow Tocchet is actually doing what he’s suppose to. Go figure.

Bear is not worth whatever money he asks for.

This is kind of my take. The coach is using it as a motivating tool. There’s other underperformers that will get blasted less publicly because that’s what the coach thinks works best for them. The interesting part is to see whether or not it works or if the coach reads the room wrong over time – something Tocchet has struggled with in the past.

Lol let’s see Tocchet demote Boeser or Myers and then he’ll have some credibility. This is just Friedman earning his pay selling the a team narrative

Well yes, our winger depth is dense especially with our system of prospects being primarily wingers. We signed out Centre depth playing after Pettersson and Miller, but Raty is our next big prospect C who had a really strong game today. There’s no room for error or slacking
