Pittsburgh made the move you have to make when you’re cash-strapped. They took a calculated risk and it didn’t pan out. That’s pro sports today.
On the flip side, Fitzy did EXACTLY what you have to do when you’re trying to break into the next tier of competition. Be aggressive in upgrading your core with established younger players, especially with assets you’re down on but still have value around the league.
Win-win at the time, but rarely does a move end up working out for both sides.

This still doesn’t look as bad as Tampa letting Carter Verhaeghe walk to the Panthers for nothing though.

Always thought that Ty just needed a bit of an AHL stint. People forget his good year was in the bubble where he played the same 7 teams 8 times each. It’s easy to understand your opponents habits when you see them so often. Once we got back to a somewhat regular season he collapsed.
