  1. Can’t wait for Johnny Hawkey to drop the red and yellow for the copper and blue. Do you really want to spend your life cheering for Alberta’s B city? Oilers are huge right now and it looks like it’s going to stay that way for a long time.

  2. He said he was focusing more on the defensive side of things this off-season, so he may indeed get less points this upcoming season, but it is McDavid, so who knows… sky is the limit.

  3. he should play without draisaitl as much as possible this year. By playing with other players regularly should help during the playoffs for line matching. If he can play with a couple of defensive minded players then the other teams wont be able to so easily shut him down.

  4. don"t think theres EVER been a visionary like Mc D. >>> guy just KNOWs before he scores how its gonna go down}}} he PARALYZEs ! the goalie!! bango another goal

  5. took OVEN CHICKEN, Alex that Russian phenom 13 thats Thirteen years to get his only Coupe! Patience Mc Saviour! and kudoes to Mc Drysaitl…….! love his play as well

  6. Oh ok nobody else was going 40% on the Canucks allowing McDavid that breakaway (looking at you Kuzmenko). The Oilers couldn’t do shit on their PP that game, and you know they’re trying to gear that up as the teams biggest asset.

  7. I think you are right that he will work on all three zones this year, same with Draisaitl. It is funny though that in general Mcdavid and Drai get knocked for their defensive games when they both finished in the top 10 in takeaways last year. You don't get takeaways unless you are playing at least some defense

  8. he needs to move the puck around more and stop trying to skate thru the entire opposition. if he does that, they got a shot.

  9. The only reason he got enough space for that OT goal was because Hughes was trying to make a line change that was ill timed.

  10. As for the Canucks having a better lineup than the previous game…yes they had a few more veterans but not as many as the Coilers had. Also if were talking the Stanley Cup for them then beating the Nucks in OT isn't saying much…lol

  11. I'm with you, I bet McDavids goal this year is Selkie. I wanna see him deny breakaways a la Lebron James backtracking easy layups slamming them off the backboard🤣

    So hyped

  12. Had a great view behind the Oilers bench last night. One vibe from McDavid and company, they're serious and they are here to win. Mad even. Yes its preseason but they mean business.

  13. No matter how many times people are hypnotized by McDavid and Draisaitl, I will repeating it. Edmonton needs defense. 33-year old Ekholm is not enough. If you're Cody Ceci is your top pair RD, then you lack defense. You will never win a Cup like that.

  14. This gushing over McDavid is probably the reason he is such an empty personality and struggles to be an effective leader because even a lack luster effort is impressive.

  15. I have a bad feeling McDavid gets injured this year…the oilers will never win a cup while McDavid is there, and i never want to see him get hurt. But I also have seen the amount of knee on knee and shots from behind he’s been taking……I can see a torn acl in his future

  16. As an Oilers fan, I'd be perfectly fine seeing McDavid getting about 90-100 points and then absolutely empty the magazine against teams in the playoffs to get the cup. I think in order to do that he would need to pace himself. And avoid injuries of course.

  17. makes sense, best to rest your stars as much as possible when ever possible. Playoff hockey isn't like the season.

  18. I'd rather see Connor get 140 pts but also see Hyman, Kane, Nuge, Bouchard and Nurse get career high pts at the same time, spread the scoring out, display depth thats needed to go far in the playoffs. I agree Connor doesn't need to get 170 pts, let him save some magic and energy for the playoffs!

  19. The Best Showing up Flop Was The Flyers . Off Season Training . Super Season . Burnt come Playoff Time . They had the Best Games without a Loss that year . I think Montreal had 26 or 27 without a loss and Philly extended the record to 30 something .

  20. he might end up getting the points through his drive of wanting the cup.

in the mind set of getting the cup we know that he still wants to score to some extent. maybe the percentage of him reaching those point is lower than if his goal was to continue to reach the goal of getting a lot more points, but, even if that % is lower, theres still a chance.

the points he gets may take longer to achieve, because obv it takes longer to win the cup.

so, maybe he will, but at a slower rate than hes been rolling on. I think he knows exactly what hes doing, and is trying to play his cards right.

  21. This is the choice that mid-career Steve Yzerman made. Went from 140, 150 point seasons to setting the example as a more complete player and the rest is history. Even won a Selke eventually.

  22. McDavid is insane, but he's awful in his own end. If he focused more on playing defense he would have maybe 110 points, which he obviously doesn't seem to want. That's the difference between McDavid and someone like Crosby.

  23. It would be so cool to see McDavid win all the same hardware in the 140-150 point range and a Selke this year…. THAT WOULD BE NUTS.
