Not gonna be a great deal in years 4 and 5 (including his current deal through this year). I’m not sure it’s a good deal in year 2 or 3 either.

  2. I like keeping Foligno, I do not like that contract.

    The fuck? 4 million per?

    GTFO.

    That deal makes ZERO SENSE.

  4. Really liked the Zucc move, dont feel good about this one. Thats a lot and is longer than you’d hope for at that rate

Love moose, but this a bad overpay. Close comps would have him lower in both term and AAV.

  6. Two years full NMC, final two years a limited NMC. This is…… not good at all.

  7. Honestly shocked at this one. It’s the first contract from Guerin that I’ve really questioned, you’d think if it was 4 years it’d come in around the same AAV.

Gonna look really bad if he performs like last season. I would’ve waited to see how his year pans out.

I guess that’s all we can do now.

Oof. I would have been fine with 3×3, but this is rich in term and money. He’s going to be 37 when this deal is up? Guys who play like him typically don’t age well. I think he’s going to have a big bounce back year this season, but am not looking forward to the last few years of this deal

What’re we doing Billy G!? Next we’re going to give Maroon and Fleury 4×4’s. Why on earth are we doubling down on old guys? Especially for two players that looked horrible at the end of last season.

Gross. The hell is the point of going through 3 years of cap hell if you’re going to re-sign all of the aging forwards anyway?

Don’t think it’d be a stretch to say this is likely the worst deal of the entire NHL offseason. Wingers are not getting term anywhere.

Is the salary cap about to shoot up or something? He’s had his moments and he’s a good leader, but we have not gotten over the hump, he’s been banged up a lot I feel like and he’s not a consistent scorer.

    In Guerin We….Trust?

What the absolute fuck is this?

Love Moose but this contract is not it, why are we giving him four years at 4, that’s just eating into the cap space we’ll finally have after today buyouts end.

Honestly i really like Foligno, but 4 mil aav? WTF? What are we paying Hartman like 1,7?

  15. JB_Smoove25

Love Moose, hate this contract. Unnecessarily early, too much money and too much term for a 3rd line role player (his ceiling not his floor) with NMC.

Sounds like Hartman is next, with this and Gaudreau where are the future spots for young guys coming up?

This is the first move that has me concerned with Billy G as our GM

What is the point of having such a deep prospect pool if you’re re-signing every 30+ age player possible. I didn’t love the Zucc extension, but I can live with it but there is no defense for this one.

Edit: AND A NMC LIKE WHYYYYYY

  17. Hm. I get that Guerin is a big proponent of locker room culture and Moose has been a big part of that – but this is pretty much buying the rest of his career at a point when you’ve got young guys coming up that need to fill those roles.

I don’t _hate_ 4×4, but I am a little baffled that Billy G would decide that now is the time to give Moose a bunch of term and a NMC.

(Also – what do these two signings mean for Hartman?)

So much for having chips to trade at the deadline…

  19. Oh yeah more GRIT. Just what we need! Teams are scared to play us, just watch.

  20. thelbbeats

Foligno was seemingly invisible last year, and had a huge negative impact for us in playoffs. There is no justifying that this is a good deal.

Don’t worry, boys. You want a Moose on your team. It will be all good and we can see how he does these next few years! No injuries will help.
