  1. Larsson will be the 2nd overall, maybe 1st overall pick in 2011! Already can see how good he is, but Sean Couturier will be hard to beat.

Well as i said this guy is amazing already, but Couturier is already dominating the QMJHL not even in his draft year yet lol. He's massive too.

  3. @SuperEngla Adam Larsson is better, but Courturier may go 1st overall anyways because he is a forward. Tavares/Hedman, Stamkos/Doughty, Daigle/Pronger. Det är så tyvärr 🙁

  4. @sebbeks: Erik Johnson went no.1, ahead of Jordan Staal, Jonathan Toews, and Nicklas Backstrom in 2006, Berard (and Redden #2 and Aki Berg #3) went no.1, ahead of Iginla and Doan in 1995, and Chris Phillips went no.1 ahead of J-P Dumont, Sturm, and Briere in 1996. You can see that there are no set-rules like the one you stated. It all depends on draft depth and team requirements.

  5. @SYLFan2008 Teams usually need a forward a defenceman in the modern NHL, the trend of the last decade shows it. Bäckström, Toews, and Jordan Staal are all better than Erik Johnson. But if Edmonton gets the first pick they will either take Larsson or Courturier because they need defence and a first center who can support Hall, Pääjärvi, Omark, Eberle, Hemsky better than Ganger or someone who can help at the blue line and Khabibulin or whoever will be the starting goaltender next year.

  6. @sebbeks: And that's why I said there are no set-rules or guarantees that a forward will get picked over a d-man. Edm will absolutely consider Larsson if they go no.1 because their blue-line stinks- Souray is done and Smid is a bust thus far. Should Ott pick no.1, it could be RNH or Couturier because they lack depth at center due to Fisher's exit. And sorry, but I disagree that a lack of a no.1 center is Edmonton's main issue. Their mgt. basically ruined the team with overpriced contracts.

  7. @SYLFan2008 I think Ottawa should get Landeskog, Alfie is going to retire in a couple of years. Landeskog and Alfie could alter between the first and second line.

  8. @sebbeks: Landeskog might be an awesome pick. Supposedly plays like Mike Richards- a feisty, physical, scoring centerman (?) is what Ottawa needs.

  9. @SYLFan2008 Landeskog plays on the right wing, he should replace alfie when he gets older. The gamble is that to hope that Spezza becomes better, or an unexpected draft pick flourishes. But the best bet is for Ottawa is to fail again next year and get an early pick.

  10. @sebbeks: Oh ok….I thought he player center. Ottawa might fail next year for it looks quite obvious that the re-build is on.

  11. If oilers et the 1st overall pick again they should take this guy. They don't need another small forward. And if they don't get the first pick and get second and whoever is first takes Larsson oil should take Sean Couturier or Gabriel Landeskog, they r both big and very talented players. Oilers need that! Not small players lik Ryan-Nugent Hopkins

  12. @xjedimindx They will never pick Landy, friend. He doesn't have that much prospect value for Edmonton. They don't need ANOTHER winger. They'll either pick a center (RNH) or a defenseman (Larsson).

  13. @xjedimindx Scouts in Edmonton have compared RNH to Gretzky, and he does have quite a bit more offensive talent than Landeskog and much better numbers. RNH also welcomed the thought of playing in Edmonton and said he'd love to play for them. If you looked up Landy's numbers, you'd realize they're pretty weak for a top-pick winger. He has "intangibles" that people love, but nothing to make him 1st overall.

Read some more on scouting reports and you'll find that Landeskog is a bit overrated.

  14. @xjedimindx I really like Landeskog as a prospect and I think he'll do well, but I don't think he'll be a superstar. RNH has more of that quality, therefore Edmonton, a resting place of superstar(s), has more interest in him than Landeskog.

I think he fits into the Avalanche lineup a bit better, to be honest. Edmonton needs a skilled center, while the Avs need a grinding winger. The oddball of it all is that both teams need defense, so Larsson is a big question for both. We'll see what happens.

  15. He should have said mens league, instead of senior. SEL=senior (men of ALL ages) while QMJHL are just boys. Seeing how larsson was in the SEL since 15 years old, thats pretty good
