    They’re not wrong.

On paper, the Canucks opening night roster looks okay.

But injuries is a big concern as the Canucks don’t really have any reliable depth to fill in on the top-9 or top-4.

If one of Hughes or Hronek goes down, the defense looks really ugly.

If one of Kuzmenko, Miller or Petey goes down, does the team have enough offensive depth to keep up 5on5?

It doesn’t help that Podkolzin has looked awful this season, and he was expected to be top-9 depth this year.

Boeser also looked like he hasn’t improve at all since last year.

On the plus side, Garland looks great, and Raty looks better than expected.

The depth of this team is deeply concerning. If Quinn Hughes gets hurt, the Blue Line is in serious trouble. Upfront the depth isn’t much better. If Pettersson or any other key offensive player were to get hurt, Vancouver would be in serious trouble.

To be completely blunt, canucks need a top 6 winger otherwise they aren’t going anywhere. If mikheyev comes back and joins petey and kuzmenko our top line will be ok. But Miller and boeser need someone better than PDG, he’s a 4th liner/13th forward on a contender.

We can have a bunch of guys who can be added on the 4th line. But we don’t have depth for the top 9 at all.

  4. VGK have terrible depth. But they won the cup last year… what’s your point there bud?

Canucks have great depth in a certain way, if they lose their 6th D to injury the next 4 guys up are as good, if they lose a third line wing they have about 5 guys who could step into that with about the same result.

If they lose a top line guy and need someone from the middle 6 to step up.. not so much.
