  1. Great video and great breakdown. I'm not a SOL Lions fan those are the ones that cried about who we got. So since your new to the fanbase be prepared for those ppl. But the draft was good for the Lions whether it was a great one we won't know until they play. But I trust the GM

  2. I think it’s fair to say that half the NFL teams would have drafted him in the first round if the Lions passed up on him at 18. The other half would have drafted him within the first 10 picks of the second round if he was still there. I’m glad we got him and he’s not on another team.

  3. What upset most fans was they felt he would've been there in the second and we passed on Kancey which was a position of need.. I love the pick, I wanted to see this man in a Lions uniform when I first started checking out prospects and after watching him interviewed I can see how they didn't just fall in love with the player, they were sold on the person.. Holmes nailed the draft 3 years in a row… We're going to be good for a long time

  4. It bothers me to hear people say things like you can't draft a running back or linebacker in the first round. It happens every year with linebackers and most of the time with a running back or two. PQ was the 5th linebacker drafted his year, and none of them got 5th year options, but the value is high, and 2nd contracts are usually better than running backs.
They are still touching the ball and the ball carrier the most of all the players. I understand the supply is higher than some other positions, but the demand is always there.

  5. the young man led his team to the class 4-A Basketball State Championship .. he's the total package can't wait to see what he brings to the big stage. #GoLions

  6. This was a fill holes draft for the Lions, not “best player at highest value positions” draft. To be fair to the Lions, they’ve been down for a long time and for at least two years prior have been drafting with high picks a lot of line – offensive and defensive- and want to compete this year in a division that appears winnable. Let’s see what happens. No one is saying who they drafted are not quality players, just that they may have been over drafted a little.

  7. If he has a career comparable to Luke Keuchley all the "experts" will have to eat their words. At the end of the day the Lions drafted 2 starters; while a lot of teams draft purely for potential, that often doesn't pan out

  8. I agree….You hit on the fact that the Lions didn't NEED another "Rush End" or "Wide Reciever", as much as they needed a high quality Linebacker….
I mean, Jack Campbell did score a 9.98 RAS at the Combine…By all metrics, that's elite.

But, let's look at who was available at #18……
    1)Jaxon Smith-Njigba?….
    (Amon-Ra St. Brown)
    2) Nolan Smith?….(James Houston)
    3)Calijah Kancey?…Redundant
    4)Brian Breese?….Incomplete/Redundant
5)Mazi Smith?…The only player conceivably interesting as a double-team run stuffer left at #18.(Wish he was still available at #34)

The Lions did really good at #18 for what they needed.

  9. Great job brother. So many Analyst and Detroit fans would say Brad Holmes won’t get a LB early or a RB early. Just because he never did it in the last 2 years lol. They know nothing. He got who we needed. This draft wasn’t deep in blue chip players. Like what you just said who are they going to pick @18? Brad Holmes got 5 1st round picks as far as I’m concerned. I love Hooker.

  10. I think he will be a generational player for us.
And I’m sure he will end up captain of the defense on this Lion’s team.
And between him, Branch and Martin, and all of the free agents in the defensive backfield
.
Everyone talks about the offense, but man!
Their sack numbers might double just because of that alone!
This team will have to be dealt with by every team that they play!
    Period!

  11. Initially i was disappointed in the lions draft. I got my panties in a twist over positional value.

I got over it because i trust the Lions front office: Sheila, Brad, Spielman, MCDC and the coaches. They pick guys they love and that love ball. Attitude and character are pivotal in their player selection.

I like the potential of every pick they made. If you want to see more Lions stuff including draft stuff. The lions youtube channel has videos called inside the den. I cannot recommend these videos highly enough.

You do a great job breakijg everything out for a football simpleton like me.
