Timo Meier Plays & Scores In First Game As A NJ Devil! Curtis Lazar A Devil!

In a Sloppy game played by the New Jersey Devils the newest Devil Timo Meier Plays in his first game since being traded from the San Jose Sharks to the NJ Devils & Scores In First Game As A Devil! The Devils Won in Overtime 5-4 Against the Arizona Coyotes with a OT winning goal scored by Devils captain Nico Hischier. The Devils didn’t play great but were able to get the victory.
In the win we saw line combination that we may see going forward. Tatar with Hischier & Mercer. Meier with Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt. Wood with Mcleod and Bastian. Palat with Haula and in this game Jesper Boqvist was in and yegor Sharangovich was out and scored 2 goals and will be the them going forward. Players like Alexander Holtz, Sharangovich, Lazar, and Boqvist will be fighting for that spot.
During the NHL trade Deadline GM Tom Fitzgerald only made one move and acquired Center and Winger Curtis Lazar from the Vancouver canucks. In this video I go over the player and what he has to offer the Devils.

  1. I thought for sure that Lazar would be replacing Boquist. Jesper while playing well simply hasn't scored…NJ then makes a trade & Jesper pots two in Arizona.
Yegor right now is the odd man out as he was scratched yesterday.
Once Lazar comes in, someone else is going to sit. Will be interesting to see how this all breaks down.

  2. People are forgetting about chase stillman… he will be a Meier-like player (I think) and he’s currently doing really well in the ohl

  3. You're right, the Devils played sloppy last night. Vitek Vanecek is in a slump. Timo Meier played well in his first game as a Devil. Curtis Lazar is a great addition for the Devils.

  4. Luckily our offense countered our sloppy play on defense. Vanecek is in his head lately but a couple of those goals against we’re completely the defenses fault.
Should have picked up a big body to play either defense or 3rd line. Would have liked us picking up Bjugstad. Lazar was a good pickup.

  5. i think a characteristic people are overlooking about the devils is inconsistency. I think their ability to score lots of goals has saved them a lot (lkike last night) I feel like every night they are doing one aspect of the game poorly. IT seems now they make mistakes are are always paying for them. Im high on this team for sure but im a realist and think they really need to sure up the mistakes and bad D at times.

  6. I feel like the Devils at times get caught playing down to the level of competition in specific games. Like they thought they could take it easy in last night's game and it almost cost them. Arizona deserves a lot of credit because they really were giving them a run for the money, when they tied the game up. There were a few goals where people were puck watching 👀 which you always hate to see. The team could've been tired due to them being on an away stint. You hope they get back to fundamentals for the Toronto game.

  7. I didn’t think the Canucks would make Lazar available. When they did, I thought it was a solid move from Fitz. Sure he’s had a down year in Vancouver, like everyone else on the team. However, when he was a Bruin, he was one of the best fourth line players in the league.

Also ticked every box on Fitzy’s list
    – brings a different element to the team
    – term
    – reasonable cap hit

  8. Devils won and have won consistently this season, the last few seasons they consistently would choke in games last nights. Vitek looked a bit shaky but the team had his back. Should be back to form for the playoffs still plenty of time to work on his game.

  9. I think Mier showed exactly what we needed and how he plays on his goal.

I think Lazar is competition for bastian/wood.

Boquist/sharangovich probably competing for third line

But also, just good to role into the playoffs with some extra heads

  10. Lazar probably gonna replace Wood, if Wood is looking for a raise, i can see him walking.. Love hearing Luke will b here after Wolverines season/Frozen 4 run ends, cant wait to see how he looks even seeing him with Nemec in Utica for their playoff run… this has been one Hell of a year for us… FINALLY!!!

  11. Devils trend to play hard against top teams and take a break against underdogs . Meier looked like advertised though .

  12. Meier look fantastic like we all thought he would. Lazar is a poor man’s McLeod and I don’t believe he’s going to play much barring any injuries. You have Yegor and Boqvist battling for one spot and Lazar backing up the 3 guys on the 4th line. He’s depth for this year but with a bunch of UFA’s he’s probably a regular next year.

  13. You could tell Timo doesnt quite understand the system yet, which is to be expected, the first Arizona goal was his fault and on the forecheck he was overloading when he shouldnt have. That being said these are all anticipated and coachable problems.

  14. Take out haula and bring in lazar. Our fourth line is getting back to the beginning of the season. Also I blame viteks poor play on his new equipment. Bovquist is playing well. Hate to see yegor go and see ya haula only thing he's brought is his face off game and we got mcleod and hischier
