The Philadelphia Flyers lose 4-3 in a shootout to the New York Islanders. Sometimes, it’s okay to be satisfied with snagging a point, but this is not one of those moments. The Flyers had a 3-0 lead entering the third period thanks to Sean Couturier, Ivan Provorov, and Oskar Lindblom. In the third, mental mistakes occurred due to the players being tired considering this is a second game of a back to back. There was miscommunication on a change which led to Anthony Beauvillier scoring his first. Then there was a too many men on the ice penalty against the Flyers and Mathew Barzal scored to make it a one goal game. To tie the game, Anthony Beauvillier scored his second of the night. In the shootout, Brian Elliot was abused five-hole twice and the brutal loss became a reality for the Flyers. Alain Vigneault scratched Phil Myers and Carsen Twarynski for Robert Hagg and Chris Stewart. He is mixing up the lines at an aggresive rate, but I believe this is because the top players like Claude Giroux, Kevin Hayes, Jake Voracek, and James Van Riemsdyk are struggling to produce.

We totally blew this 3-0 lead, it should of been a win and there have been no overtime or shootout and should be just a regulation win, Provorov played well at least and Lindblom continues to score, we have to win against the Panthers and I know we will bounce back up the standings.
Its the same old same old my man, you have good hockey acknowledge to be honest with you, what it comes down to is that this team has no speed or creativity for the most part. G and Vorachuk were those guys 2-3 years ago that could control their line everytime they were on the ice now their slow and just not quick enough. Phil myers a scratch are you kidding me let justin braun who can barely skate too keep playing….there cap strapped and thats it, jvr is irrelevant one of the most overrated players in the league hands down no doubt about it…Kevin Hayes good player but i am not spending 7.5 a yr on a guy that scores 45-50 points a yr because thats who he is, kills penalties and is a solid 3rd line centerman on a GOOD team. Im the biggest die flyers fan bit its been years that i dont even look forward to watching the game because there slow predictable and boringgg i know they may squezze bye to make the playoffs then when they play a true contender team first round you see what they are. The thing thats more depressing is that were stuck with these treads, who wants g, voroahuk, jvr hayes. and thats at least 30 mil on the cap that irreplaceable. Is there some "piss the fans off" pact that all the teams in this town signed or something? It seems like every team is trying to one up each other in trying to fail in spectacular fashion and punish the fans for caring about them in the first place.

This loss makes me sick to my stomach
This team needs to start winning in regulation. We have gone to overtime in 10 out of our 20 games. Thats not sustainable. Its not just about coming out with two points, its about taking points away from Eastern teams to further secure a playoff spot. You mentioned blowing a 2 goal lead as something that happens, which is true, but this team has done it at least 3 times this season. This game was the icing on the cake. It’s unacceptable. I believe we need to move on from either Voracek or JVR for cap reasons, and because I don’t think they’re going to work on this team. I’d rather it be Jake because I’d still like to believe JVR is a 30 goal scorer but I think both contracts will be hard to move.
I get it's disappointing but I do think this is a good team though

Look at say last 8 games. 90% of the goals they score in 1st period. To come out with 1 pt this weekend pretty embarrassing. I dunno what to say anymore the inconsistency of scoring has hurt this team for years. AV can only do so much.

Hayes has vanished. You arent gonna win when your getting mostly scoring from 1 line. It was 3-0 with 11mins left. Also I dont get this schedule the league has given them this year I mean how many fking back to backs do they want them to play.

It's a shame. All the good things they accomplished a week ago are forgotten about with these last two efforts. And, as per usual, Brian "the sieve" Elliott reemerged when his team needed him the most.
Ghost has 1 goal and is a -5 so far this season. What happened to him as he has regressed to the point where he’s a liability out there since he’s not the offensive presence anymore.

I'm an islanders fan, trust me all of the islanders fans know what it's like to take a loss like this, ive been an islanders fan my whole life i know what its like. I agree that the Flyers did play a little sloppy in the 3rd but it's better than the islanders winning in regulation and you guys not even getting a point.
